I don't know that you can have a meaningful duologue about morality on a message board because things get lost in translation however I'll give it a shot at expressing my thoughts. I have no issue with Chris Brown. Why some might ask since he beat up his girlfriend. Do I condone or excuse domestic violence? HELL NO! I grew up in a house with a father who was abusive, had a husband who was abusive so I know all about domestic violence. I don't condone it at all! However, Chris took full responsibility for his actions, something that most batterers don't do (something that Mel Gibson still hasn't done btw) and he should be allowed to TRY to prove that he's a changed man. IMO constantly berating him and trying to prevent him from moving on with his life will only serve to deepen whatever anger and frustration issues he was already dealing with. He was sentenced, he did what the court asked and he's trying to move on with his life and his career and IMO he should be allowed to do so. Where is the morality of not forgiving someone for their mistakes when they seek that forgiveness and seem genuine in their desire to make themselves better? I have really nothing to say on the issue of sex v. violence because I completely agree. However IMO you can't compare what Chris did and what Adam did. Chris wasn't caught on tape beating anyone. No one has to worry that he's going to suddenly punch someone in the face on live television (or we should hope not). Adam made a poor decision performance wise and did things that people took offense too. Should they be more offended that Chris beat up a girl? yes and whose to say they aren't but the reality is Adam's behavior took place while he was performing, something he would be doing while booked on their show. Chris wasn't in the course and scope of his job as a performer... if he had punched a dancer in the face while performing I'm guessing (or at least hoping) the reaction to being leery of him performing would be the same. eta: I liked Kris on Idol and thought he was just as deserving of winning as Adam *shrug* I just want to let you know that I agree with you. Brown is a douche dejour but everyone is entitled to at least a second chance. Personally I don't think he is gonna become some angel and I totally think he is gonna fuck up again hardcore, but it would be wrong to say oh well so and so deserves a second chance and so and so doesn't. Yes the circumstances are completely different and yes going off script in a performance vs beating the shit outta your girlfriend are different and really can't be compared, but the bottom line is they are both mistakes and if both parties own up for their actions or whatever then they should at least be given a second chance to write whatever wrongs. Yeah I don't like Chris Brown but no one should be written off completely right away. Everyone deserves a second chance in life....unless they fuck with me because then bitch IT'S ON. lmaoo So how does CB's behavior today factor in to the conversation? I understand his being frustrated that people don't stop asking him about his previous legal problems, but that happens to all celebrities who have something in their past. His behavior today is a problem in my mind. I haven't decided how bigh of a problem I think it should be, because I dislike him so much that I can't be objective. But he put a chair through a window. My eyebrows are raised. And, yes, I am ready to move on to the pretty, so here's my contribution...

I'm stunned, but I can't say anything about this without starting a board war, so I won't. I'll just say that everybody's gotta do what they gotta do. I have to continue protesting ABC's seeming acceptance of a girlfriend beater while getting all offended about a same-sex kiss and a quick, fully-dressed simulation of oral sex. Anyone who wants to let it go is free to do so. I'm stunned as well. I won't say any more than that - except that I did email ABC. I'm all for giving someone a second chance but I don't recall Adam getting a second chance on GMA. Too bad this had to come up on such a joyous day - a day for celebration. But it did and I think it's appropriate to address it.
