After watching the whole concert on YT last night (some songs several times), I decided not to go to bed before a little experiment: I listened to half of Trespassing (first 4 songs, CH, Runnin' and the rest of the bonus tracks). (Not) surprisingly, all of them felt to me ON THE SAME LEVEL as all the Queen songs from the Hammersmith show. Thanks to the vocals, obviously They are different kind of music, but good music is good music, and especially TP with its Queen-inspired hand-claps and bass line just rolled like a logical continuation of my musical experience of the night. It felt like having a great dessert after a fantastic steak. (You know I like food analogies) I was pleasantly surprised I did the same thing, Kryptoman! I was thinking that I hope people don't start saying he should forget about his own music and stick with Queen, but man, Trespassing holds up great! Woke up with Shady in my head (course it's always there) and realized that I am still not the least bit tired of any of these songs (except BTIKM which I liked a lot at first but just pales in comparison to everything else). My biggest wish is that all the fabulous publicity will keep things going long enough to at least get one more single out there and that it will be either Trespassing or Cuckoo, because the first two simply don't show who he is as an artist.

I usually go for Adam's live recordings (instead of the album) as soon as those are available - so a definite YES! (The album instrumentation is something I usually have a problem with...)

Hmm not a mention of Adam's vocals, but complimentary to Queen. Ugh.. they name dropped Perez H as a celebrity that was there.
Hmmm. So I guess the vile beast really was there. Much speculation on twitter that he didn't actually attend the show & just tweeted to knife Adam. This is the lone mention of his sighting though so perhaps neither one of them were in attendance? I mean the reviewer didn't mention Adam's vocals? Wut?
So many wonderful tweets about the concert in general & Adam in particular. This one says it perfectly imo:
@markgilroymusic: No-one’s replacing anyone. It’s about keeping some of the best music ever written alive and fresh.
Since I'll be watching videos much of the day & won't have time to post I'll just say now that Adam was and IS beyond spectacularly stunning! In fact the greatest entertainer performing today - and that's a FACT.
PH is NOTHING...he has absolutely no significances in the stratospheric heights AFL is going to attain. True professional people in the music industry know what a talented, charismatic, and nice person Adam is and all PH's jealous hateful nonsense means nothing in my opinion. I stopped caring what PH said a long time ago and never go there. And the nasty comments of some of his posters just goes with what PH is...a nothing nasty bug. JMHO

I am very disappointed to see that in the review we now have to read such negativity thrown at Brian and Roger. What a brutal business.
An elderly voice does not ring as triumphantly as a young one, but if reflects the maturity and experience of a life lived. We often talk about agism towards us older fans on this board, this was total agism towards Brian and Roger. The question is, can they still interpret and bring over the intent of the song and of course they can, their whole life in all its heartfelt experiences shines through it. The experience of loss, of highs and lows, of overcoming obstacles and the triumph of newfound musical kinmanship 20 years later. I can sense through their vocals how bittersweet this all tastes for them. And their voices are pleasant and warm to listen to. Why this slander just to stroke your own reviewer ego?
Brian and Roger have fought to get Adam, mostly they have waited around patiently for Adam to come around and be ready.
Let's face it. When B&R showed up on idol because of Adam, they left it saying that in the hoopla of the finale there was no time for a more meaningful conversation. That showed that they were interested in having it though. Adam did not want that at the time. He distanced himself a bit, probably concerned that the pop star career he wanted would be overshadowed by this role, if he engaged with them at the time. Maybe right, maybe not, we will never know.
When Adam the first time came to the UK, who did he seek out to visit? Boy George, not Brian and Roger. He wanted to set a pop message vs rock. Brian and Roger quietly waited they turn, but how must they have felt at the time, after they had packed their bags to travel and meet him on idol, in spite of the reality TV backlash this created for them.
Then, when Adam was ready to take on a limited role on the EMAs and it went so well and he also realized that he could do double duty, it was Brian and Roger who had to handle months of ridicule from the media and from their own core fan base because they were engaging an American Idol. Adam obviously did too, but anyways Brian and Roger put up with a lot, they pulled off what everyone thought was the craziest idea ever, because they had the experience to know it was going to work, and here they find themselves critiqued basically for being - guess what - experienced and courageous.
I just wish I could rock like Brian and Roger in the best of my years, I sure wish even more I could do it in my sixties.
Like I said, brutal business, brutal disrespect and ultimately only superficial understanding, where a tiny wobble in the vocals is seen as more important than the maturity of interpretation and delivery. Just like those that want to see Adam only as flamboyant and squeaky and cannot access any deeper levels within themselves to draw from.
Luckily the audience did not seem to have this problem, and all artist perform for the audience first, not for the reviewers. But still sucks.

RT @marlenarosie:Overheard in London:Queen fan: "this guy LOST American Idol?? Who the fuck won..Jesus Christ??" [ADAM LAMBERT IS GREAT!!!]
Yeah, Nigel, go get him! By the way, guys, you realize that the purpose of idol (besides providing TV entertainment, of course) is to develop and find the best new talent for Interscope. Adam is signed to RCA. Just saying. Nigel is clearly in Adam's camp, but I can see why they have been talking for at least a month. There is probably lots to talk about.

Just a further the admin from QOL posted today that they film EVERYTHING they do nowadays. Every gig, etc. is filmed. As of this time there are NO plans to release any Q+AL gigs. They do it in a better to have it and not use it than want to release something and not have it. Sorry guys. The reality is, that it is released for free and with zero editing every time anyone perform now. If I walk through suz526' videos it is almost like having a DVD in my hands, at least it is the next best thing. While my suspicion is that you are right and we will not receive a live concert DVD as generously as we did with GNT, it is kind of surprising why artists given today's reality of the internet choose to not release an official version. I am drowning in videos as is, one better than the next. But I would love to get a perfect sound stream without fan singing, basically straight from his mic. Assuming it was on at all times. Sometimes the sound was really low, at least in the secondary sound recordings that we are getting it seems that way. As good as some of the fan videos are, they aren't the same as a video/DVD with a continuous performance and professional audio. The GNT DVD demonstrates that. And speaking of the GNT, the CD was even more important to me because I seldom have time to sit and watch, but the CD was in my car/on my computer forever! Although the video of the Kiev performance isn't perfect - Adam's voice could be louder, and there are a few mistakes - watching the whole thing without interruption is a joy! (Ha! I have MADE time to watch that more times than I care to admit.) If they are filming anyway, it seems it would make sense to finish the project, knowing there are two fandoms interested. Here's hoping...
