After watching the whole concert on YT last night (some songs several times), I decided not to go to bed before a little experiment: I listened to half of Trespassing (first 4 songs, CH, Runnin' and the rest of the bonus tracks). (Not) surprisingly, all of them felt to me ON THE SAME LEVEL as all the Queen songs from the Hammersmith show. Thanks to the vocals, obviously They are different kind of music, but good music is good music, and especially TP with its Queen-inspired hand-claps and bass line just rolled like a logical continuation of my musical experience of the night. It felt like having a great dessert after a fantastic steak. (You know I like food analogies) I was pleasantly surprised yup...I was "afraid" to listen to TP for a couple of days... but went for it yesterday and frankly to my surprise - it held its own! I usually go for Adam's live recordings (instead of the album) as soon as those are available - so a definite YES! (The album instrumentation is something I usually have a problem with...) I'm still helping a good friend move and I brought a CD of the Kiev Adam/Queen concert to listen to while working and she really liked it but after a while she said, "Let's play the Trespassing album you gave me. I can't stop moving when I hear those songs and I just love that album! The music makes me happy!!" She likes Adam but doesn't following everything he's dong like me and doesn't go to fan blogs. And I was glad to find that listening again to Trespassing it felt as strong as ever to me!

Oh, here's a new term in one of them: Maylorberts! LOL No hostility here, Mr. McCormick is entitled to (and paid for) his opinion. I, however, found last night's concerts one of the most moving experiences of my life and I wasn't even there. Watching the Youtube videos, I found myself smiling, singing along, clapping, laughing and, yes, finding tears rolling down my face. Congrats to Queen and to Adam Lambert. You are turning us all into Maylorberts.I love that! It's even better than being a Queenbert. I'm a Maylorbert, YAY!

[/IMG] Rating: Very easily a 5/5 news: Adam Lambert and Queen rock out Hammersmith Apollowww.4music.com/news/reviews/5214/Adam-Lambert-and-Queen-rock-out-Hammersmith-ApolloCan Adam Lambert step into Freddie Mercury's shoes?Legendary band Queen took the stage last night for the first of three London dates, with Adam Lambert as frontman. Lead singer Freddie Mercury tragically passed away in 1991 and since then, it seemed as though the band lost their spark. Now with the guest vocals of Lambert, they are re-energized for 2012. The gig was a massive night of sing-along rock, featuring all the old school Queen classics, including Don’t Stop Me Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and Under Pressure. Adam Lambert fit effortlessly into the void left by Freddie Mercury. No one could replace Freddie, but Adam's stage presence is electrifying and he possesses one of the best male vocals of our generation. What's most impressive is how Adam Lambert connects with the music, despite not writing a single note of it. more...
Love this review! I was telling my DH just last night that Adam's musical theater background is what makes him so compelling singing covers. The boy knows how to connect with his "material". I hope we see him on the big screen someday. After he becomes a pop superstar of course ;D.
