Adam Lambert performed the first of his three UK concerts with Queen in London last night (July 11).

The singer took to the stage at London's Hammersmith Apollo with Brian May and Roger Taylor to sing the band's biggest hits.

Lambert, who was personally chosen by May to stand in for the late Freddie Mercury, wore platform boots and a leather jacket adorned with silver chains as he opened with 'Seven Seas of Rhye'.

He later performed a selection of the band's most notable songs which were well-received by the crowd, including 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'We Are The Champions', Radio Ga Ga' and 'Who Wants To Live Forever'.

Discussing the show with Digital Spy, he recently said: "I still can't believe we're doing this. It'll sink in eventually!

Adam Lambert Does His Best Freddie Mercury Performing With Queen in London

Adam Lambert took over the role of Freddie Mercury at Queen‘s concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London yesterday (July 11), capably filling in for the late frontman on the classic rock band’s biggest hits.

Fan videos have surfaced on YouTube, giving viewers a taste of the live show. For ‘Dragon Attack,’ Lambert wore a bright red jacket with furry fringe. By the time he got to ‘Another One Bites the Dust,’ he was barefoot in a black leather suit.

According to the setlist posted on Queen’s Facebook page, Lambert led the group on hits like ‘I Want It All,’ ‘Radio Ga Ga,’ ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ Drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May took over the vocals on a few songs, and Lambert and Taylor dueted on ‘Under Pressure.’ No one can match Mercury’s showmanship, but by all accounts, Lambert’s performance was well-received.

When Adam Lambert performed with Brian May and Roger Taylor at the MTV EMAs a few months back, there was something special about their performance…something a little Freddie about the vibe that was going on and it was echoed around the world that Adam should perform with Queen properly; and now here we are in the band’s hometown with the American Idol runner up in tow to do Freddie proud. Say what you will about Adam Lambert, but credit where credit’s due, he did a phenomenal job on the first of three sold out nights at the Hammersmith Apollo.



‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ was breathtaking to say the least; Adam did a fantastic job at nailing those vocals to make this one of the highlights of the evening.


A particularly nice touch to the evening involved a special thank you directed to Adam Lambert from Brian and Roger for “making this night happen”; it was a night full of admiration for each other and that was a touching thing to see.
