Since we have a "day off" here at ATop, I thought it was a good time to bring over this link to Angelina's newest blog ---- her take on the vocals on the Trespassing CD. (If you are disappointed that she doesn't say more about Underneath, she is so impressed by it she plans to do a separate program on it.) If you enjoy the blog, please comment and let Angelina know to keep them coming. soundbath.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/adam-lamberts-trespassing-the-vocal-review/"Underneath is my absolute favourite song from this album and I will go so far as to say that it is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. This song reminds of the passionate arias we find in operas, some of which have been around for hundreds of years and still seem to be as popular as when they were first heard. This song seems a very worthy contender to share such longevity. A stunning ballad, the lyrics in Underneath are again filled with so much imagery and the sweeping musical lines perfectly compliment Adam’s exposed soaring vocal line." ...." it is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard" I think so too.

IMO the single best guitar note in the history of guitars is the one following "Another hero...." in The Show Must Go On. That one note encapsulates the mood of the entire song- it is mournful, plaintive, and evocative. How one single note played on a guitar can say so much is beyond me aside from the fact that Brian May is a master of his instrument and possesses spot on instincts about how to use it to communicate. I am not a guitar expert, but I find Brian's work beautiful. His melodies just sing, and he doesn't ever try to be showy by trying to see how many notes he can fit into 30 seconds. He puts Adam's former, not-to-be-named guitarist to shame. If you guys have the RS issue of the World's 100 greatest Guitarists of All Time" pull it out and read what it says about Brian. He only made #25, which to me is criminal! I have a feeling Freddie may have over shadowed Brian's greatness for many. But the comment about him is really great.

Queen On Fire: Live at The Bowl - Milton Keynes 1982 is another great concert DVD - from just a little after Montreal. Some of the dancy pop stuff from Hot Space is on it but done in more of a rock fashion...the intro will be a bit similar Features a great Somebody To Love and Save Me

Their vault is probably like this: It is! It's actually worse knowing it. The teasing is relentless at times. You thought waiting for Trespassing was tough. The Queen Anthologies were first mentioned in 1994/5. Interesting note on the additional cameras - I have heard nothing myself still to counter the "film everything, release nothing ( )" mantra. But I'll keep my ears to the ground. If Q+AL comes to the states I wouldn't be surprised if he did more than see the performance. When QPR came to California in '05 Slash joined them for the encore I've always been a fan of Queen--but I am obsessed with Adam. I hang on his every note, facial expression, body movement. Adam has memorized even Queen fans with his powerful renditions, so (as you all know) it's even more F-ing mind blowing for super-fans like me. But, one surprisingly huge thing I have taken from these concerts is the power of the music itself. Even as focused as I am on vocals, I find myself unable to ignore, and am equally as moved by, the expressiveness of the instrumentation. WWTLF--it couldn't be sung better--but just listen to how Brian picks up where Adam leaves off and is equally as emotion-grabbing. Their songs are so varied, not just from each other but also within themselves. I knew Queen was "rock royalty" but I now truly have FELT the superiority of their music. These men, together, wrote complex masterpieces. It angers me to read reviews by people who must be too focused on what they think should be popular to feel this music. Do they not feel when they hear "Love of my Life"? Are they too busy checking their text messages to notice the solos? Are they able to NOT smile during "Underpressure"? At any age, these men kick the ass of anything made today! Maybe this is the problem with today's music world: people are too focused on what's next to even take in what is now. Part of why Adam is so powerful singing Queen is because he "gets" the music. Adam shines in these concerts. But for once, finally, I think he has met his equals. How awesome it must feel for him to be surrounded by his level of mastery. I am honored to witness them all. Yes As much as I'm sure you're excited to read when a Queen fan appreciates Adam, it is much the same to hear people finally "GET" Queen at times. Everyone knows their songs but sometimes it just doesn't click until you pay attention. Brian has always been an amazing guitarist. His motto was to never distract from the song. To compliment the voice. Everything could be sacrificed for the song itself - no personal glory and thus he could do one or two notes but damn it those 1-2 notes would be perfect and add so much depth. For example, I'm LOVING the added wandering guitar to the I Want To Break Free synth intro. Just lovely. And Roger's drumming is amazing in that he builds a wall of sound. There is a technique he uses where he opens his hi-hat while he hits his bass drum and it just makes a very powerful wall of sound. My friend is a drummer and while not a Queen fanatic always says that Roger is the most powerful drummer he's ever heard. AND of course, the three voices blended so well together. Adam does a good job with that as well and I'm not sure if it's the sound guys getting better with each gig too, but the voices are blending better each gig. And I 'get' what you are saying talon...it is true. I have always loved queen music but never sought it out or truly appreciated their artistry and talent until now. I am now definitely a QUEEN fan as well as an Adam stan!! What has pushed so many of us over the adam-edge was the person behind the incredible voice...his courage, kindness and honesty. Now that I have properly 'met' queen, I can see all these same qualities in them and that pleases me to no end. We women tend to be integrators and need the whole package to really connect....I love the QAL package very much. win win. Doesn't mean I don't love Trespassing Adam just as much...but if they put out a CD of new Queen stuff...or Adam and Queen in any incarnation, it would be right up there in steady rotation as well. And...I do believe I will go get one of the Queen cd's as well..or 2...hmmm...too many choices...

I just visited QO, was pleasantly surprised, looks like the tide is turning...makes me happy example: "so yes, Lambert HAS put this "debate" to rest. There is no comparison. Martel is a paid impersonator, Lambert is an artist. Case closed." discuss.queenonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=3917&start=195

I have not read today´s thread yet because I have been out all day and just got back home, but I want to share how happy my home arrival was: Guess what was waiting for me in my mail box.... Adam´s CDs from the UK with BTR and Map!!!!!!! SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! So, now I have... CDs from Amazon.com Sex box from Adam Official CDs from Amazon UK Downloads from iTunes Spain, and now I am ready to get CDs from Amazon Spain, and buy some in the stores when they are available here. I have gifted iTunes downloads to many friends I have voted in all the polls that have been available even the stupid ones. I have requested where I have been able to, and I have watched and flailed, laughed, cried, danced, etc. with all the live streams (best second thing when we are not able to attend the concerts live). Should not forget to mention reading all the tweets, articles, discussions, jokes posted at Atop. I have also converted two Queen fans who had not heard about Adam. So, I can say that I am HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!THANKS ATOP and ATOPPIANS
