OMG is right!!! Seeing this here for the first time! Wow so she finally decided to go & not push for more $$$.
I expect disagreement here but I have very mixed emotions about Adam doing Idol.
* He wants it - so I want it for him! :D
* It will undoubtedly help his career - so I want it for him! :D
* He will be on TV 2X every week during the Idol season - so I want it for him & me! :D
BUT -
* I will have to watch that show 2X a week - so I don't want it. 
* He will be subject to scads more nastiness & criticism - so I don't want it.
The WANTS have it I guess!
Getting optimistic now - or pessimistic, however you look at it. ;D |

I was never a fan of Queen. I was only a kid during their brief heyday in the US, and unfamiliar with any of their work beyond the big stadium hits. Young teens in Austin Texas in the late '70s were still savvy enough to know the double entendre of the word QUEEN and to witness the "machismo" that was Freddie Mercury (serious LOLs), and no one who knew what was good for them would commit social suicide by liking Queen. ------------ I also realize now that I kind of took great music for granted when I was a kid. We were surrounded by so much of it that bands like Chic and Queen could be dissed and dismissed by the critics (they still are). Does all this sound familiar to you guys? Here we are banging our heads against the wall wondering why people are overlooking Adam--and we overlooked Queen, at least in part because we weren't paying attention!!!! And junie's right about there being others too. And doesn't junie's experience with the "social suicide" sound familiar? I am thankful that my patch of this country wasn't like hers but I certainly see now how this still lives on for Adam who even thinks being his friend is a political statement. Yet another thing I have learned from Adam I guess: Pay attention to the music--the more hidden music of the guitarists and drummers and the less talked about music of people like Frank Ocean. |

Guize, I'm going nuts trying to find that moment when Adam is singing in Brian's face all melodramatic and Brian cracks up. Was it TSMGO somewhere? Is there a gif anywhere? One of my FAVORITE of many moments this week. That one and also the one where Adam is riffing up on the drum set with Roger and Roger keeps pointing to him back and forth. UGH my bookmarking is so FAIL.

If, and it's a BIG IF, Adam gets the Idol gig, the criticism will only be before the general public sees how articulate and thoughtful he is. Once the shows start, he will be America's fvaorite judge EVAH! C'mon, we all know how irrestible he is when he talks! Actually, my family and friends that are not in the Idol bubble, which is almost everyone, have been telling me that they think Adam would be perfect! And who the hell cares about the Idol Bubble people. I know Nigel doesn't or he would be making changes we've been "talking" about for years!! And I sure don't. I think the butthurt from other Idols' fans is funny! ;D

And I forgot to add to my "I WANT it for him" list - the MONEY!!!!
Don't you think with 3 open spots now (and all the publicity) the odds are pretty darn good that he'll get it? I would hate to get our my hopes up just to have them dashed again, but still.............

UGH my bookmarking is so FAIL. If you are referring to TSMGO, I have watched that clip numerous times, and I don't think Brian is cracking up. I watched him leading up to that dramatic moment and he is playing a heartfelt, crying guitar solo that fits the emotions of the song so well. He's really into it, and I think what some thought was a huge grin is actually a grimace, or his version of a "stank face" while playing this poignant duet with Adam. |
