Sorry, I am going to post this on a new page too, especially since I f*-ed up my links on the last page: All right peeps, final push for this week!! This is from @ladybrinehart on twitter, one of the organizers of the drive:
Peeps are def tired of these little reminders, but only 2 days left for the single and album in the uk. a little birdie kind of implied it's going to be close for the top 10 this week esp with frank ocean's late entry. so, here's all the things peeps can do if they want to help.
1) donate cause funds are low: requestadamlambert.com/2012/07/06/uk-ncoe-sales-push-donate-beginning-now/
2) buy the album yourself by getting a UK gift card voucher: tinyurl.com/6wj4zuk £15 is the perfect amount to buy all 3 ~copies of ncoe, like 2 extra songs (I got Cuckoo as one since I think it might be a future single and map cause I wanted a copy), and the album.
3) continue flailing about all the awesome stuff going on cause a happy fandom is always best :D

Note they mention 5 ladies and one guy (Adam) NEWS/American Idol Shakeup: Is Randy Jackson Also Leaving?www.eonline.com/news/330015/american-idol-shakeup-is-randy-jackson-also-leavingJennifer Lopez has left the American Idol building and so has Steven Tyler. So now the big question is, will Randy Jackson stay or go? Here's what we know: Sources confirm that producers have spoken to Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Adam Lambert about becoming judges. The three, one source said, "are at the top of their list." Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj and Fergie are some of the other names that have been floating around too. Where does that leave Jackson? He's still in the mix. No final decision has been made by him or Fox. more...

The one thing we all need to remember is that you don't want to 'throw away' all the 'old' fans, to entice new ones! Perhaps it is no coincidence that Idol has both the highest ratings and the 'oldest' fans!! When we keep advocating 'younger, hipper' judges to encourage 'younger, hipper' fans, I would suggest we are exhibiting the same ageism [with an unspoken dose of sexism] that we are frustrated with regarding Brian and Roger, and our own 'sparkle cow' moniker. Why are we doing this!!?? seriously....shake our heads....why the hell do you think Idol does so well in the first place.... DO NOT THINK THIS MEANS I DON'T WANT ADAM THERE.....I do want him there very much....just not because he brings in a younger demographic. I want him there because I believe he would make a very good judge!! and I want to see him every week The ~problem though is now, the ONLY remaining big names selling and charting on radio off of Idol in ten years are Kelly and Carrie. If we remove Adam's wierd situation from the mix. Carrie doesn't really count because she's country with genre loyalists. We'll see how well the country guy, Scottie does. Fantasia? Meh. Nothing going on with her small base anymore. It depends on how you're defining "doing so well". Getting ratings and a single and EP to sell alot the week the season is over? OK. But what about their original mission to create stars? Done and over. So if Idol is going to produce anything relevant they MUST change to keep up with the competing shows. The UK invasion from reality shows isn't helping. Nothing to compete with a boy band from Idol. I don't really care if they do well or not and I didn't think they cared if they cranked out stars it's all about the short term for them. But at a certain point it's embarrassing for them to have NO "stars" left on radio or selling big for several years. Either way, Adam will make big money doing it which at this point is great and also for his exposure IMO. He needs all the coin he can get to keep writing and recording so his expenses are low and his Idol indenture is paid off! I can see a sort of SYTYCD judging panel or like Drag Race with rotating different judges, something like that. I did not say anything about how well contestants are doing as a criteria for 'doing well'...the show American Idol is still the number one show....I think of all networks....certainly on Fox. That is 'doing well' by anybodies standards. That is the only criteria I am using at the moment. It was posted earlier that Idol is in the business of creating a winning, rating-winning television show. Even with the lost ratings, it is still at the top of the leader board. I am not talking about the future of the contestants, nor am I talking about radio. TV, period. eta...pardon my spell's...in a rush here and getting excited!! haha...I just hate it when what I say gets tweaked in a way I did not say or mean....no problem being wrong but it has to be that I actually said that thing wrong.....grrrrrrr PS...swarm, you are quite right that in the end they need to be producing 'stars' for credibility...by that standard though, Idol is still head and shoulders above the US x factor or the voice...they have yet to provide anyone even close to the status of what idol has produced...even phillip phillips has done better than any of their progeny so far....

I won't bring it over here cause it's too long, but check out the Kidd Kraddick blog I posted in the Numbers thread. He's a huge syndicated Top 40 guy. The age of the Idol audience is exactly what Top 40 radio is looking at and what he points out. Is it ageism, yes. Is it realistic, yes. And unfortunately a reality that Adam fans don't want to accept. And I am not arguing about top 40 radio...I am talking about TV ratings. The demographic that watches most broadcast television is not 18 - 35 ....that demo is out in the clubs, cruising in their cars, gaming on the internet or having babies.....we, and the tweens, are the tv watching demo. Idol is a tv show...not a top 40 radio station. Ask any bunch of college kids how much regular tv they watch...you may be surprised. Course, they aren't listening to as much radio as the radio stations would like to believe either but that is another whole story. Someone just claimed that the average age of Idol viewers was 49 and the youngest of these talent show viewers average age was the voice at 43. So for every viewer younger than that, there is another one that is older....that was my point and I stand by it.You're right, the target for radio tends to be a bit younger than for TV (music radio's target tops off at around 35). The most desirable target for TV advertisers is 18-49 year-olds. The higher the ratings among this group, the more a TV network can charge for advertising. So, networks will do whatever they can to maintain or boost ratings among this demographic group. However, there are exceptions: some TV shows or networks, like the CW here in the U.S. , cater to a younger demographic group (18-34). And of course, there are kid-targeted networks. But for the mainstream TV networks in the U.S. (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX), 18-49 is the primary focus. The problem for Idol is that ratings have dropped among 18-49 year-olds in recent years. So, that may lead the producers to consider hiring younger judges for next season in the hopes of attracting more younger viewers.

A nice gentle nudge right out the door! :lninja: WERQ Adam shady bitch! ;D

This is a really cool Queen song that I wish Adam would sing instead of just the intro

I could use a little sort of OT help. Yesterday I tried to gift a iTunes song to a friend. I went through the whole process 2x and it's never arrived in his email and my cc hasn't been charged. Any insights? I don't even know how to check my account on iTunes to see if it worked or not. You can check your iTunes account by: - logging in to your account - go to the top bar on your computer once you're in iTunes -- click on Store - go to View My Account on pulldown menu -- Purchase History is there Thanks! they don't show there so I guess it didn't work. I bought it from AZ which wasn't easy either as they didn't have a gift option.

Weekend Rock Question: What Is the 2012 Song of the Summer? Cast your vote in our weekly pollBy Rolling Stone July 13, 2012 3:35 PM ET www.rollingstone.com/music/news/weekend-rock-question-what-is-the-2012-song-of-the-summer-20120713It's technically been summer for slightly less than a month, but in many ways this is really the height of season. After all, school starts again late next month. We figure this is a good time to see what you think is the song of the summer. Is it "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen? "Wide Awake" by Katy Perry? "We Are Young" by Fun.? Maybe you aren't so into the pop thing. Feel free to vote for "Burn It Down" by Linkin Park or "Gold On the Ceiling" by the Black Keys. Basically, any relatively new song on the radio this summer qualifies. You can vote here in the comments, on facebook.com/rollingstone, or on Twitter using the #weekendrock hashtag and we'll turn your top picks into a playlist.
