Brian is the most amazingest person EVAH!!! brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssbjul12a.html#13Well, I think we all felt the last couple nights in Hammersmith have been a moment of significance. In fact, perhaps especially last night. The band, as it is now, seems suddenly to have switched into a higher gear - more confident, having more fun … and stepping into new territory … an amazing thought at this stage in our lives and in our careers … to be honest, I would never have thought it possible before this journey with Adam Lambert began. Adam has his own style and path, and there was never any intention that he would be 'another Freddie" - but there are many parallels, in the mechanisms which we've already developed - coming together as an organic band. It's very pure - having no extra guitarist means I am back in the old place, as in the Old Days, completely responsible for holding up the 'wall' of sound, but also completely free to control the dynamics and 'feel', working more or less as a four-piece - something which is only possible because Adam is such a strong pivot and front-man. No backing singers - no dancers - it's pure - somehow it feels like Rock ought to be … … dangerous and stimulating. It's completely - real. In this epoch of auto-tune and hard discs on stage, that's pretty rare these days. And everybody seems to be having fun. Including … totally … US! Many thanks to you guys in the Hammersmith audience - no bunch of rockers could be more supportive and inspiring. The view above is something nobody else sees … it's from Pete Malandrone … my intrepid and unflappable Guitar Tech - this is the amazing sight from the Apollo (Odeon) stage - you guys are beautiful !! Love Bri besides Adam

I have not read the thread --- and this is not based on any comments here. I had an interesting conversation tonight about the performances -- and this is based on that conversation. Any comments about a note here and there in these Queenbert concerts misses everything about these concerts -- the performance is entire, mostly a connected experience. The music and his voice often just surrounds you. The Hammy-O is a bit of an odd venue -- the acoustics on the upper level are not good and the sound is being mixed for the center floor -- about 12 people back, center was quite good. Most of the video is being shot from above the speakers -- and the sound will be totally f'ed up. Judging the performance from these London concerts from "home video" is a waste of time. At best, the ones I listened to are a mere shadow of last night's performance. True but somehow in the flailing technical performance keeps being brought up. Seems like the only people parsing "negative notes" are people who were not at the concerts. The only conversations I have had with people who were at the Queenbert concerts about "notes" were about the amazing, powerful, clear tone of Adam's notes.

[quote author=taumbu board=daily thread=1011 post=276435 You know, what I love about Adam is that he is such a yes to life. I guess his cd sales aren't good. But to me he seems to be on this incredible journey, that goes all over the place, and he is loving it! Who knows what's next with him? I mean, an Idol judge???? Good or bad, Adam is hugely successful, and he may not be a big pop star, but he has the respect and to some degree, awe of the music community. He is so talented in so many dif aspects, I think he will have a lot of choices. And that is so exciting.
So many great posts today...I especially note the "lot of choices"...
I believe we will see a future Adam Lambert as a major producer of not only music, but stage , television, management...you name it !
The young man that said so eloquently:
"I want flames coming out of my fucking head !"
has creative vision beyond the average.
That he has connected so viscerally with Pharell, Niles, Roger and most of all Dr Brian May (seeing them strut off stage after Dragon Attack will forever be etched in my brain !!)
I can't imagine the separation anxiety that is bound to occur after Saturday's concert. I'm teary eyed myself at the thought :2tears:

Not to be negative but listen again to the first verse of Show Must Go On....OUCH. And the band screwed up a few times too - I Want It All where Rog came in too early, and Fat Bottomed Girls when Adam came in too early.... Nothing concert ruining (though TSMGO came close ) but there were definitely hiccups. Much better by London though... I noticed that Adam started "testing" before almost every song - like a little warm up... I think he does not trust the equipment, because the only way he can get off pitch is by not hearing.... and he keeps "directing" the sound people all the time... I guess it is "normal" dealing with all that electronics... I was wondering if that's what he was doing before each song.

www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/adam-lambert--mercurial-gift-of-an-american-idol-7939328.htmlAdam Lambert - Mercurial gift of an American Idol Reality TV graduate Adam Lambert is slipping into Freddie Mercury's leotard again. The first openly gay US No 1 artist tells Luke Blackall about singing with Queen It's hard to place Adam Lambert. A runner up on American Idol in 2009, his first album had a strong hint of glam rock, his latest stuff has a strong flavour of pop and emo, and he looks like a young (and slightly more handsome) Gary Numan. To top it all off, he's gay. While a gay pop star in 2012 might not sound so unusual in the UK, in the US it is. And this year Lambert achieved a remarkable feat as his second album, Trespassing, was the first record by an openly gay male solo artist to top the US Billboard album chart. ... "We're in the midst of this big civil rights movement," he says. "It's beautiful to see how people are powering through and I think the timing of that and my notoriety is a privilege. I feel I do have a certain amount of responsibility – because I have a visibility that not a lot of people have in the gay community, especially in the music industry – to be comfortable, to be open." The other curiously straight creative industry in the US is Hollywood, with whose members Lambert, perhaps surprisingly, has more sympathy. ... more

Just gave another donation in the final push for Adam and NCOE.. Adam has given me three years of joyous music,he has educated me on all types of artists and he has filled my life with happiness. I wish I had loads of money to contribute ,because he so deserves to be in the top 10 in the UK. I so wish for Adam to capture the English hearts in every way. What's the link again?

I totally love Brian. I was reflecting today with my husband on the wonder that such evolved human beings as Brian and Adam have found each other across the generational line to enliven and inspire each other in the best possible way. Brian's description of the purity of what they are doing musically made me cry. I can't remember being so obsessed. This whole journey possess my mind and heart so completely. I keep asking myself, who are Adam and Queen in my distant path and how did we intersect that has left such an impression on my soul that in this life, I could happily drop everything to be a part of their magic. :2tears: :2tears: :2tears:
