Someone needs to get hold of James Durbin and tell him to forget Adam and find his own voice. I heard him sing While My Guitar Gently Weeps (or whatever the name is) and I think he has possibilities. He needs a little guidance. He does have a strong, emotional voice. I would like to see him able to make a living singing due to the two strikes he has against him. I think he could do it if Idol would take responsibility for a human life and use their resources to help this guy. He does have a child. And this child needs a father who can make a living. I feel sorry for the guy is all. I wish everyone would stop hating on him. I think it is all right not to like his singing, but he deserves a break too. I don't think Adam would like reading some of the remarks I have been reading out there. We are not the ones saying horrible things, but maybe we could set a good example and kind of wish all the kids well. Unfortunately, these kids have very few outlets to get to the top of the recording industry. No matter what you think of Idol, it gives singers a chance to get a fan base to pursue their careers. Frankly, I think there is a lot of good talent this year and I am getting excited.
I think like you all do, and know there will never be another Adam. He will be our icon at this moment in history. I hope he gets a good 40 years out of his career or even longer, and doesn't make the mistakes that MJ and Elvis made. I think about it all the time. Maybe being 27-28 and a little more mature when all this fame came to him will end up saving his life. It's a rough industry. I am so glad Adam is a philanthropist also. I think it will save him from wondering what to do with his money. I think about Charlie Sheen. He is too old to be making such a fool of himself. He has four beautiful children that need their father to set a good example. Can you imagine the good that could be done with all the money he has spent on drugs, women, and booze. He has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it. He is the highest paid TV star. I wonder if he deserves it. I like Charlie too so don't think I am dissing someone I hate. I just think of the children. I am a mother and grandmother. It's the children that concern me most.

I agree with you irish about James. I've gotten nasty in previous years of Idol and am trying to have a new attitude this year. I've always had the opinion of why should anyone compare Adam to any current contestants. Or any contestants from different seasons for that matter. Adam's year is over and he is not in competition with anyone. No one will ever top his AI performances for me, but I just don't get it. Now with James, he is the one who made the slight Adam comparison, so I guess he asked for it last night. But if your first sentence actually happens, I hope a lot of people move on from the comparisons.
But I guess I can't promise that I won't make any nasty remarks about someone who annoys me this year - yes Steven Tyler suck up chick, I'm talkin' to you. Hopefully she cuts that crap out. It didn't seem like Steven appreciated it too much anymore.

irish, my wish is that Debra Byrd gets to be James' vocal coach, on the show, and knocks some sense into him! I think she would flat out tell him to stop comparing himself to Adam, to stop shrieking for no reason, and to find his own voice!
^^^^ This ^^^^^ And he sang ACIGC. Bad move!

I dont know i saw J.L face when he sang ACIGC and she seemed annoyed by his voice. I think they are using him for high rates. :(

As long as he doesn't get the new coachzilla. That segment to me was "we don't have nasty Simon anymore, so let's show a coach ridiculing some poor contestants". Negativity does not motivate IMO.
Is it me, or does Thia never smile? So far, I'm not seeing much personality there.
Nothing to do with this season, but I've got 2nd row tickets to see Jason Castro on Monday. Really looking forward to it.

gelly, I think you are right about the producers encouraging his behavior! I'm sure they've been encouraging Lauren Alaina's behavior also.

In fact, I think I saw him in January and again in Mar/Apr in Atlanta last year. i still have a lot of friends from that fandom, although I don't post on castrocopia any more.

Jason is playing a very nice, very small venue on Long Island, NY. I've never seen him before. I hope the theater is full because he deserves it. I'm so glad there was a blurb about his concert in my newspaper, because otherwise I would have never known about it. Here is his current tour schedule.
Feb 27 Lancaster, PA American Music Theater Feb 28 Bay Shore, NY Boulton Center for the Performing Arts Mar 5 Greensboro Cathedral of HIS Glory Apr 9 Dallas Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church Jun 18 Wilmore, KY Ichthus Christian Music Festival Sep 17 Minneapolis Grace Church

Is he just doing Christian music now? He had my heart when he sang Hallulujah on Idol and kept my attention big time when he sang Over the Rainbow. First time for a uke on Idol. LOL
