Chris Brown is a thug, I don't buy his music and never will. And the Rhianna beating happened almost 2 years ago and so did the AMAs. The world of celebrity, a world which Adam belongs to mind you, is one of privledge and ridiculousness. I enjoy reading everyone's POV and understand where you all are coming from but for me, the incidents are completely different and therefore one has nothing to do with the other. Both things are wrong... Adam being removed from ABC and ABC apologizing and asking Chris back.... and I agree with writing letters to ABC about Chris Brown's behavior if you feel that strongly about it. I guess for me the question is if ABC hadn't cancelled Adam, would there be this much outrage or is it likely that none of us would have even noticed Chris Brown was on GMA in the first place since most aren't fans to begin with. Has nothing to do with Adam AT ALL and all about our society's willingness to turn a blind eye to violence and then wonder why some teens today act out violently. |

someone upthread asked if everyone had received their mycharity:water photos... I haven't. I think many are still waiting. I know someone who was in the first wave of emails who hasn't received it yet so I think it's going to be awhile. I don't mind that at all. With the DVD release done, it gives me something to look forward to. I'm sorry if this has already been answered.....but I have been feeling kinda low here... no DVD yet(living in Bermuda is not so good if you are a AFL stan!!!!!!!!!!!) and no signed photo either. Did you receive a request to send the email or did I miss the boat AGAIN and was supposed to send it?? Does anyone know? (help!)I received an email that I had to respond to. Are you a member of ALF? If so, Lane has a blog about the photo and you could leave a comment and see if one of the mods can find out for you if emails are still being sent |

My feelings about his tirade and ABC's and GMA's response has nothing to do with Adam, for me. If Adam didn't exist it woud still piss me off. I respond to injustices all the time, even before Adam. Yes, of course celebrity culture is fraught with advantages (and also disadvantages); it's a high-wire act that can be yanked out from underneath you at any moment and it can also send in the trampolines. CB's outburst, like Charlie Sheen's ongoing trainwreck, are typical of today's media and celebrity culture. (And BTW, historically speaking, this has been going on since Jesus, and I'm sure, much earlier. Putting people on pedestals in order to knock them down seems largely ingrained in human psyche ... ) I would have likely just shaken my head at the debacle that was the CB situation and chalked it up to something like Charlie, Mel or Lyndsey's scandal-du-jour ... but the moment when ABC groveled to him is when I said, "Oh no!!" And yes, it did resonate emotionally for me because of my disillusionment and disgust with ABC (a network I was very loyal to for most of my life) from a couple of years ago; that's what propelled it past just another celeb "caught-in-the-act," for me. **** ETA: MIDWIFESPAL: Yes, and exactly this too!! |

Just noticed a new e-mail from ALF introducing the mods and their jobs and a new Aftermath essay contest where the winner gets to ask Adam 3 questions and gets a signed copy of the lyrics sheet. I think it would be great if one or more of our fantastic essay writers here at Atop would enter !
