Well, I was there last night, and the show sounded GREAT! Background singers are much more background than in some of the videos. After the show, everyone around me was talking about how good every song sounded and how good the sound was and how Adam had nailed them all. The only problem was that I never wanted the concert to end. On the way home, MyS*&@^#r and I were talking about how even good YouTube videos never really sound like the live experience. Honestly, guys, the live concert sound experience was great, and I have a reasonably good ear. I loved Adam and Queen, but I also loved seeing Adam do his own songs again. Adam is so all around talented he just blows me away, and he keeps getting better and better!

Sticking my head in very briefly to address a point I've seen brought up both last night and this morning. YOUTUBES DO NOT USUALLY PROVIDE ACCURATE SOUND!!!For Adam shows, they are usually created by pulling sound off a camera not designed for sound capture (or sometimes even a phone), which is then garbled more via the downloading/uploading processes. Everyone in person said Pop That Lock sounded great. However, while tinafea's YouTube looked great, the sound was muddy, backing track nearly impossible to hear, and Adam's voice was thinned out. [shrug] Its what often happens when visual equipment tries to do double duty as audio equipment. IMO, peeps need to be more understanding/reminded of media transmission issues when critiquing performances off of YouTube vids. What you "hear" may be significantly different than what the audience heard at the show. Thanks hoppers. Good example. I had a big Adam fan here last night and was gushing and raving about Adam and Queen. Played a vid of Show Must Go On. She and hubby asked me to shut it off because it sounded terrible. Played a few other vids from different Queenbert concerts, and the reaction was the same. And they both know what great singers and musicians sound like live and on professional recordings. Made me sad that I couldn't show them a good example of the amazingness of the whole thing. Sugaree - Have you seen the Kiev concert from this site? minus.com/lvhKDgWkLuq6HIt's the broadcast in full, so you get the continuity and very good audio - better than any YouTube I've seen. Adam's voice is a bit softer than desired, but still good. There are a couple off notes, as has been mentioned, but for getting a real feel of the event I think it's great. You can either watch it or download it. I know I've posted this before, but there is so much stuff out there now it's hard to know where to look. Even though there is so much new stuff out there to watch, I still find myself rewatching and listening to this. On my way to work this morning - WWTLF - almost in tears - again...

Thanks for posting the bit with Gaga. She really is quite the delight live and does include some interesting banter. I will never forget her show in phoenix talking about sb1070, heartfelt and intelligent. She can share a great story and be funny. I am happy Adam shared about Queen on stage. I am there for the music of course but I like when the artist attempts to connect with the audience. Boy Adam has been working out! Vocally. His voice seems stronger richer and more developed. I think those six shows with queen were great exercise. Wonderful videos, better than being there if you were stuck in the back at that lousy amphitheatre. Not a fan of oc fairgrounds. I wonder if enjoyment of the videos would have been enhanced if filmed from the other side of the stage. I missed seeing Brian! maybe the ladies would have been less prominent too. I felt they drowned out Adam a few times and sounded off occasionally.

Ok those back up singers have got to stop ruining Naked Love. ARGH. Every damn time their harmonies (well actually is just one of them) are sharp - and not in a good way! Interested if others hear it or am I imagining things? Is it safe to say anything less than glowing about the Vajayjays here? I like the IDEA of live backing singers, but, there are consistent pitch problems that interfere with my enjoyment of the songs. It is jarring to hear. Don't know the solution, as having live singers is a definite asset when it comes to Adam having more freedom, but...... Be careful of what you wish for.....

Interesting comments today about the concert. Here's my 2c: 1. Re: comparing the band to the Queen band. I also think it's not only unfair, but almost impossible to compare. Like apples and oranges. Queen is a BAND; Adam is a solo artist with a back-up band. Queen plays rock music, where the instruments, and especially the guitar, are supposed to be front-and-center; Adam plays pop music, with funk and disco and some rock influences. May I remind you that most pop artists don't even have a full band. Some just have a backing track or a DJ. The band is just not that important in pop. And if anything, I think that Adam has an incredibly elevated level of live performances, for a POP performer. He really has a comparatively organic sound up there, and it's a real live jam. You should see Kesha or Rihanna or even Lady Gaga live. Also, while I appreciate the Queen concerts, I feel like Adam and Queen is a bit like going to the museum. It's a pretty cool, interactive museum, but it's still a museum. Watching Adam do his own music is very much ALIVE; I am looking forward to his evolution as a writer and performer; it's like being in the middle of a stream and you are getting carried away with it, and you don't know where it will go, but man, it's exciting. So for me, Adam needs to do his own thing. 2. Re: the energy at last night's show. I watched the videos and I was blown away, personally, by the level of energy and showmanship he showed. He was playful, interesting, endearing, funny, dance-y. It's hard for me to think of many other performers right now who are this good (and I'm not OTT, I think there ARE other performers out there who are this good or better, just not a lot of them . I was surprised to see a couple of people who thought he was "tired." I wonder if we're not getting spoiled a little with his phenomenal performances, and we are now judging Adam using a totally different scale. Of course, YMMV, etc etc so I'm not telling you what to think in any way, just wanted to share my experience of watching the videos (and I wasn't even there).

I have to disagree... there are times when the videos are better than the actual show. at least in my personal experience. they catch more detail. and sometimes even sound better. Depends on your live seat location and the position of videographers.

I finally figured who he reminds me of and I think I'm starting to understand where he's heading: two very sexy gentlemen rocking the stage in their suits - David Byrne of Talking Heads ( check it out if you want - www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzORu1dqEE0&feature=player_detailpage) and Bryan Ferry ( www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=iIUrLpvE3Rk ) We'll see. I like it, A LOT! ETA: Lifetraveler, YES to everything you just said :D

I simply like watching the videos to see the dance moves, what he and the band are wearing, check out the crowd, watch the antics, catch the banter, see if he's singing anything new.......
I would never think to critique any performance on their quality. I'm glad we have them and I FULLY appreciate anyone sacrificing their own concert experience to bring us joy but we all know the sound and overall quality is sub par. All of our favorite video gifters do a GREAT job and, of course, most are very good for what they are but to judge Adam's performance based on the videos is unfair. JMO.
