Actually I think the very opposite. The only negativity I see are posters complaining about negativity. People (okay..me) are afraid to post anything which might be construed as negative even though WE ALL KNOW THAT ANY MEMBER HERE ADORES AND SUPPORTS ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT. Fun is not restricted to puppies and rainbows. :-/ It's just reviewing the show like everyone else. Some people might critique certain things because of reasons, c'est la vie! Doesn't mean they hate Adam and want to drive ATOP into a black hole of negativity... IMHO the problem here is wording. You can give critique in a good way and in a bad way. But there is also over-interpretation - we are all guilty of this one. Sometimes one innocent word leads to a cascade of negativity.

Fun is not restricted to puppies and rainbows. :-/ Well, I think the issue is that there are quite a few criticisms of various aspects of the concert (sound quality, the back-up singers, the band, etc.) based solely on YouTube videos, most of which have crappy audio quality that bears little resemblance to what the concert actually sounded like. I was actually at the concert, so my comments were an attempt to provide some perspective from an actual concert-goer's viewpoint, not to dissuade other people from posting. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course and a forum where everything is puppies and rainbows would be a buzzkill, but if folks are going to criticize a performance, then you've got to expect a response from those who have a different perspective on the event. I think the various opinions and debate are great, and of course you should rebut based on your own experiences! .....I just don't like to see posters made to feel like some kind of bad fan because they dared to utter something less than complimentary about either Adam or his band...and with that I'll try and shut up!

[ties on lolly-covered mod hat] Hey guys. Critiques of concerts (and anything else) *IS* indeed allowed on ATOP. No need to walk on eggshells. However, ;D , as I reminded peeps this morning, critiques should keep in mind the limitations of the equipment providing the critique material. As I'm often forced to do at work, peeps providing critiques should be sensitive of talking about something when you only have a piece of data. For example, this week I had to write " Based on report xyz, I think that this piece of machinery is unsuitable". The analogous statement on ATOP would be " Based on what I'm hearing on the <livestream/YouTube>, Adam's voice not amplified enough and the instruments are drowning him out". That way, when someone at the concert says " The sound was the best EVAH!!! Sound guy didn't screw up and the concert was FAB!!!!!!" any negative issues can be properly blamed on the mode of transmission and not on the concert itself. :D :D In a sense, it was almost easier when concerts only showed up in mermish, as we KNEW that we couldn't tell what was going on! But with all the fabulous and awesome peeps instantly gratifying us with streams and vids, its now sometimes difficult to step back and acknowledge that what we perceive isn't always the full reality. THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT!!! [laughs] It just means that you have to acknowledge what you're actually referring to. Thanks guys!

ADAM LAMBERT - Pop That Lock, NCOE - Pac Amph 7-19-12Published on Jul 20, 2012 by cos2mwiz I hope Adam sees this video. I hope Adam tweets this video! The sound and visuals are great and it captures so much--a terrific new performance of "Pop That Lock," fun, comfortable banter (including a mention of fans and Twitter), his lovely comments about Queen, the encouragement to buy the album, crowd shots, and him singing the current single! Plus he looks so damn good!

Adam Lambert - Pacific Amphitheater - 7/19/12blogs.ocweekly.com/heardmentality/2012/07/adam_lambert_pacific_amphithea.phpAdam Lambert Pacific Amphitheater 7/19/12 Glambert fever took over the Pacific Amphitheater last night as Adam Lambert belted out crowd favorites and brand new material in part of the Orange County Fair's summer concert series. In honor of his May sophomore album "Trespassing," fans paraded around with yellow crime tape to welcome the screaming, American Idol alumni. The night before, A.I.'s 2011 winner Scotty McCreery was gracing the stage for a very different (i.e. wholesome) countrified concert. Lambert, the first openly gay artist to top the Billboard Top 200 album chart at number one with Trespassing, took the stage with some serious disco diva swagger, tossing hits "Whataya Want From Me" and "If I Had You," along with a brand new variety in "Never Close Our Eyes" and "Naked Love". With poof'd gelled hair, limp wrist and a face plastered with makeup, Lambert vogued on the neon lit stage while wearing a stallion imprinted blazer, accompanied by a wailing guitarist with bright pink hair, a female bassist who challenged Lambert in the fashion department with Skrillex-style shaved hair. Of course our favorites in the band were two voluptuous black backup singers named "The Va Jay Jays". I must say it was nice to see girls with shape and meat on their bones singing and dancing in the spotlight. MORE... My post: OMG. Screaming, ok, it's a common nonsensical term some bloggers apply. Was "Outlaws of Love: the scream or the part that solidified your homophobia? LIMP WRISTED, face plastered with makeup? Words fail at the utter homophobia you don't even know you own. Regardless of your admission that his good show cannot be denied....I would prefer to deal with a blogger's bias against Lambert's music than the bias of homophobia foisted generically upon millions of human beings who have every right to breathe the air YOU breathe with whatever personal attributes they are born with without your recriminations of YOUR values of their worth. You owe the LGBT community a HUGE PUBLIC apology for your ignorance. And that's me being polite about it, because I'm quite sure you know better.
Personally, I'm GLAD you called this out and I think you did so beautifully! Personally, I'd rather read a NEGATIVE review of someone's music that shows RESPECT for the person as a human being than one that, in effect, says - "damn - that ****** can sing after all!" Slurs sort of outweigh the "positive parts" to me. To be clear: "Limp-wristed" is NOT okay IMO.

Pisses me off out of an otherwise great review that's not worth even getting pissed about IMO. Adam was decidedly flamboyant last night and the wrist was working it.
