My final conclusion is , based on the song 'I'm still a guy', that Mr. Brad Paisley is a gun-carrying, offensive jerk and a douchebag. The whole song reeks of disrespect. I call it a hate speech. Definition of hate speech: Hate speech is, outside the law, any communication which disparages a person or a group on the basis of some characteristic such as race, disability, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other characteristic. Which category do "guys who groom" fall under?

To me, Adam's accent is SoCal with a dash of Weho. Interesting! As a Texas women working in the north east I finally had to take classes to correct my accent, cause those Bostonians would comment on it all the time. Watching I8 I knew Adam was gay only by the way he pronounced certain words, record was the one word where I could hear weho!! (wasn't Adamized at that point reading everything about him on the web, twice) My dh can hear someone speak and tell exactly where they are from. He uses it to open a conversation with strangers!!!
Adam has a definite pronunciation of his own when he sings. I hear Indiana in some words. I don't hear it so much when he talks. My speech is fairly unaccented - a combo of midwest, florida and longtime California. But I met a cabbie once in New York who id'd the midwest, actually hit the state, hearing me talk. My husband channels his inner Brooklyn when he gets excited. We are a real mishmash in the US. There are some places where English feels like a foreign language - deep south, Appalachia, Boston to name a few ;D The US has many accents, indeed. (Although I've found a great variety in the UK and native German speakers immediately id my German as Hochdeutsch as opposed to the other accents in Germany.) My American accent is close to the "newscaster's accent", with a flare up of the Bronx if I get angry enough. I travel a lot for work and have a good ear, but I'd agree that there are some locales where I'm not quite sure they are speaking English. The worst time I ever had was in a town in Alabama. The amusing part was the ladies at the guest house at which I was staying could not understand ME! It struck me as so bizarre that they couldn't understand the accent that is used on national tv and most of US films/tv shows, but I subsequently found out these two particular ladies did not own a tv and never went to the movies. They seldom went anywhere other than this town, so they had no real exposure to differences. Over the few days I was there, I became competent at understanding them, but they NEVER understood me. We had to write notes! I always remember them... they were so sweet. Every time I'd write a note, they'd give me a candy bar "for your troubles."

LOL I just purchased a lot of "few" CD's as a thank you to ALISON and DRAKIUS for sending me Queen cd's 'cause I'm so computer illiterate on certain things. BUT maybe as a celecbration WHEN Adam gets the AI confirmed judge position, some of us can purchase another cd to kick start his sales again ...maybe others will join in. who knows. SOmetimes it's all perception, if he is selling, he looks successful and others will check it out of curiosity and hopefully purchase. I sent all the UK purchases to that youth group in AZ. They were thrilled. Just a thought I'm thinking that if indeed Adam is hired as the next AI judge, might AI spend some $ on promo for him. After all they want to brag about a successful alumni as well as being a superstar success story and right now the last two singles didn't make it so a boost in promo for him might spark big interest again in his CD. IDK I just want something. I was talking to my husband about this. I think AI does spend money on their judges . They want visibility and I think this is another good reason in favor of this endeavor. Notice how well dressed the judges were, they are on talk shows, articles etc. I would expect money and promotion thrown his way should the heaven's declare him a judge.

Adam certainly hasn't made some of his fans less judgmental so..... A truer thing has never been said on this forum... Please people don't listen to any other music than Adam's, because then you will see that sometimes song lyrics might offend you and you will have to expend so much energy hating on people who you have no idea about. I'm sure some people could dissect some of Adam's songs and take offense. Sometimes it just ain't that deep! :

Alek allow me to respond: it's unfair for anyone to label someone a homophobe based on lyrics to a SONG. I assume no one here follows Brad Paisley nor do they have any information about what he believes or doesn't believe. You're comparing physicals actions to lyrics in a song. I have a hard time believing that someone would actually believe that two (and yes, it's ONLY TWO) verses in a song makes someone a homophobe or that one word can make someone a homophobe but if that's the case then I'm going to venture a guess that this board is full of homophobes because we have ALL said things that are gender stereotyping and not politically correct in our lifetime. When I get hit in the face almost daily with cries of homophobia it's hard for me to continue to take those accusations seriously. Not every comment is homophobic and not every person who expresses an opinion or a thought you disagree with is a homophobe. I sometimes think people look for homophobia even when there is none because it gives them something to complain about. So you don't think a man should defend his lady if another man puts his hands on her inappropriately?? also, now you're implying that he'd take his gun and shoot someone? that's a leap that I find very distasteful and inappropriate, esp in light of the recent shooting in Colorado. are you now implying he's a rapist or potential rapist?? I know English isn't your first language so can you clarify what you mean here? Swarm said it was stupidity, I asked what stupidity?? I didn't call another posters words stupid.... you provided the quote from swarm so I'm sorry you misunderstood what I said. In the context Swarm used them they are his words not the words of a reviewer. how do you know I don't know what it's like though? how does anyone know for that matter? What is the Abraham Lincoln quote?? If you look for the bad in people you will surely find it? If you look for things to offend you everything will offend you. and you're entitled to your opinion Alek and I respect your right to voice that opinion, I just happen to disagree with you.

Given that page one of this thread is largely devoted to Adam 's style, I thought I would contribute a bit. A few days ago, someone asked why Adam didn't wear socks with his dress shoes at the Costa Mesa concert last week. Well, according to this NY Times video, stylish young men in NYC shed their socks during the summer. However, they otherwise continue to look sharp and well-dressed -- wearing jackets, ties, etc. So, Adam is, as usual, on trend. He didn't wear socks, but he still wore a fabulous jacket, and kept it on even in the summer heat. ;D video.nytimes.com/video/playlist/style/1194811622321/index.html

Sorry, I am going to have to disagree with your entire post. As someone who has had hate speech thrown my way almost daily for the last 35 years, I find it a bit belittling of real hate speech to even suggest that song is an clear example of such, or that one can somehow magically determine one's real feeling based on one word or even two.
You certainly are free to feel that way, but I've definitely felt the real thing. I don't need someone else to tell me I should feel offended over something that isn't it.

If indeed Adam is in negotiations to become a judge (and I believe he is) then I am certain that what promo he will get and what he wants are part of the negotiations. I have a lot of faith in DMG to do this right!
