How about Adam/RCA release his new single, Cuckoo, next week on the same day American Idol issues a formal press release saying that he's a new judge on AI. Then the single gets an off to a good start bump due to the Idol buzz. Adam gets on all the TV talk shows because of the judge buzz - he gets to perform Cuckoo AND he gets to sit on the couch and say words. While Brian May is in Costa Mesa this week, he, Adam and Adam's people will meet and Brian will do a stereoptic 3-D photoshoot of Adam to be published in Rolling Stone, etc. One of the pics will be of Adam by a train, tying in the Cuckoo Crazy Train. More buzz! Right at Halloween, Adam's PLL episode will air. As we've already heard, it takes place aboard The Crazy Train. In an innovative cross-promotional move, RCA has already negotiated with PLL producers to use some of that footage as part of the MV for Cuckoo. The MV will have a huge built-in PLL audience of young teen girls. All of whom WILL buy the single, and continue to demand radio play, pushing the single to #1 on BB pop chart. This will fuel RCA's promo push for Grammy nominations for Cuckoo and the Trespassing CD. Adam will have two live performances on the Grammy Awards show in February, one of Cuckoo, and one with Queen (who will be getting some kind of lifetime achievement award that night). Of course, Adam will win at least two Grammys. In honor of all that great stuff that could happen, ATOP decides to permanently retire these two smilie emoticons:  One of those is a happy tears smiley and if this songs takes off, I think we will need that one. Other than that I totally can see every one of your predictions coming true! |

Even if Adam never releases Runnin as a single, I wish he would sing it at his concerts. I love every one of his bonus songs. I play them over and over all day. At night I listen to his concert songs, but I love every last one of his bonus songs, especially Runnin.
All you Runnin gals, what draws you to Runnin? I think it is Adam's lower register. His voice sounds so mysterious and sexy at the beginning and then it just keeps peaking and peaking until you are drawn into his emotion. I think it is an amazing arrangement for a beautiful song. I wish he thought so.

Re: the new single. I hope RCA releases Shady as the new single it would be a great song to close out the summer and lead into fall.

Irish, regarding "Runnin'":
Yep - the lower voice, the intensity, the lyrics/emotion (I feel like Adam could just spit with frustration when he sings, "I've been standing here my whole life, Everything I've seen twice"), the build, the DRAMA - I love all that.

So assuming that Cuckoo is the next single, I think we need to give Adam some suggestions for the movie video. I know he said a while back that he already had an idea based on a film; I'm guessing he meant One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. But that is a pretty grim movie, and actually is very similar to the look of NCOE. ALso, he doesn't like to do literal interpretations of the songs.
So my suggestion is going to involve birds. His interaction with the cockatoo in that People magazine shoot was so hilarious that I could see a variety of short cuts with different types of birds. We already know he does a crazed emu very well, so that would lend itself to some great dancing! I would like something completely silly and crazy, because the last two have been pretty serious.
Or maybe he ends up inside of a cuckoo clock and he's the one who goes out the little door and shouts "cuckoo!" Bring on the birds!
