That's where I'm at teddybear. I feel like he needed the Idol gig to get his album and songs noticed (and selling). I mean, without radio, where can he get the exposure his career needs? Yeah - and the weekly exposure would help put the butts in the seats in those larger concert venues. It would all work together. And it really doesn't matter what the next single is if radio isn't on it. Can a single sell if no one hears it? :-/ guess I need directions to the dark side. :( Phew, too much negativity for me :-[

If Adam is already signed, there'd be no reason for him to "be in talks." And seriously, since when does the actual star go in and talk? JLo didn't. Steven didn't. Mariah didn't. It was all handled through her management, which I am sure the way Adam's or anyone else's would be. When Adam got back from London, July 16th, he told us all to go all out requesting NCOE. Within a week, he became all giddy about something and has now told us there will be a new single announced in a week or so. What made RCA decide on a new single now? I would have bet anything they'd be waiting until Sept. Maybe the new single needs to correspond with a big announcement? There is also the Sacramento interview and those tweets from the UK last week. Something is up. Oh, and Idol is not dead. It still gets 18 million viewers a week. The only thing that beats it is Pro Football! I am going to keep being optimistic about this happening for Adam, mostly because he wants it and because I want him 2 days a week on my television. He would be good! Honestly, if Idol/FOX didn't take note of all the press Adam being considered generated (all positive,) they are idiots!

It is my DH's birthday this Sunday. I asked him what he wanted. He said simply "For you not to talk about Adam Lambert for the whole day." :( It's gonna be tough.... I read your post to my husband. He laughed and said he wants to form a self-help group for all the husbands that have to listen to Adam Lambert talk all day. Wish him a Happy Birthday from us. I told my husband about your post.. He smiled and asked if I could go for one day without an Adam mention. I said I didn't think so.LOL

As much as I'd love it to happen, for the reasons stated by others here at ATOP, the Idol judging gig might be fraught with controversy. Lots of haters might say Adam hasn't paid his dues or earned the right, doesn't have the sales to justify the position, blah, blah, blah...
Also, sitting at the judging table would limit Adam to a few sentences of post performance critiques and remarks that can get repetitious week after week even with his ginormous word bank and articulative skills. I mean how many ways can you say pitchy, boring, superb, great costume choice, etc.? (This is not to excuse Randy who IMO seems to have a cue card of 5 stock phrases that he says over and over.)
Instead, I would love to see Adam take on a recurring mentoring role where he could really shine and show the viewers just how much he knows about music, production, style, etc. He could also DEMONSTRATE his ideas to the contestant ("Try singing it like this"...) and the TV audience would collectively drop their jaws in reaction to his awesomeness.
It would really add something to the show if a group of mentors could take on the appropriate weeks based on the themes. I'd love to see Adam add his expertise to "Summer of Love", rock, Queen songs, etc.
If only Idol would listen to me. ;D Oh well, a girl can dream can't she?

I just don't want to keep my hopes up, because I really.. REALLY want this for him.. and for me and for us.. We want to see him twice a week in our TV again. I'm just going to say it out loud. I was actually thinking that these Nick, Pharell and Brad are possibly for the 3rd seat.. but don't quote on this ..

All I know is that, however rational they may seem, the speculations about the singles and Adam needing AI for sales are everything but rational in Adam's world.
He is going to release the third single in spite of all gloomy predictions. I'm not listening to anyone any more, so it's bye-bye rules and logic, hello dreams and hopes for me.
As for what the next single will be, check out my prophetic avi. It's been there for days. And if I turn out to be wrong, hey, it won't be the first time I've stuck my foot in my mouth.

Mys*&@^#r, what did Adam say in the Sacramento interview, and what were the UK tweets? I was at the lake last week and out of the loop.
And I agree with the post above, a new single is exciting. But, it needs to be heard or the excitement will be short-lived and replaced with the same old frustrations.
eta---no gloomy predictions, but if a single is to be successful there has to be a plan. And if radio isn't an option, then there needs to be something else.

Just wanted to report that I just blasted the Hammersmith Concert II Version II on my good car stereo to and fro Walmart. Sounds really good! Mine downloaded in about 10 minutes via the torrent. I could even understand a few little "ass" comments that I didn't hear when I was there live. Anyway, thanks talon for the DL info.
I still hope Adam gets the Idol gig, because he seems to really want it and I think it would be a good boost to his career/album sales. But if he doesn't get it, he'll be fine and so will we. Silver lining, maybe Tour II will start earlier in 2013! I'm SO ready!

vikkisusanne Only Idol bubble people woud say that. I have friends and family that are faithful Idol watchhers but are not on-line and don't even buy the albums of the kids later. But they are faithful to the TV show. Everyone of them has said they think Adam would be awesome. And they don't all know that I am a stan, so they weren't saying that just to appease me.
^^That is exactly why Idol needs Adam! He wouldn't do that! You know how articulate he is.
