Does anyone know -- can Sauli spell? Because I think non-spellers find spellers to mate up with. I am a non-speller married to a spelling bee winner and brilliant man. Our son, unfortunately cannot spell. I won! This question was in yesterday's thread. I don't know if Sauli has any actual spelling disorder (at least I haven't heard of one), but there are quite a lot of typos and strange spellings in his blogs. Even whole sentences can be sort of mixed up - and that's what you can sometimes see in the translations, as well, since even though we try to make the text at least understandable, we try to keep it also close to the original! ;D So, I don't know if it's carelessness or just his way or writing, or if there's something else behind it. Short comment about Finnish language: Finnish is always spelled as it is pronounced, so we don't really have the same spelling challenge as e.g. English language has. When you hear a word you know how to spell it. Then again I loved this topic, since I make typo in every word, both in English and in Finnish . And what comes to Sauli, to me it seems that he is writing very much "spoken street language" that people don't usually write. So the "sound" of his text is very much that he writes how he thinks it. And sometimes his thoughts go faster than fingers, so the structure of sentence might get broken. And seems he never double checks . To me this creates a feeling of very genuine and personal text, but also might mean that he does not have very much experince in writing. |
