I would tune in to idol if Adam were a judge, but if not, idol is not my thing anymore. The primary reason is that the judges the past few years were the focus, and in the beginning, aside from Paula being a ditz and Simon being caustic, the focus was primarily on the singers. When the judges began to take up the spotlight (and when the winners became so predictable) I quit watching. I think Adam would be both watchable for himself, but more importantly he would be primarily interested in the competitors.
Mariah will be a focus, and I am not sure what her verbal skills are. She might surprise me. But really, despite the popularity of country, I am not a fan of that genre, except for an occasional song/artist. Is this really going to be Country Idol?

Ok. I realized I'm hogging the thread. But one more question. Is Pharell really a household name? (Foreigner here Not a household name but well know in rap and urban music, and he has credibility in the music business and with the press. Two of the original Idol judges were less well known in the US -- Simon and Randy and Paula had not had a hit for a long time. It makes sense to have an urban guy, a country dude and a pop diva. Plus a rocker they'd get every idol audience group covered. Oh hell, if they can't find a rocker in time and within budget, they could very well pin Adam as their resident rocker dude. They even have Queen footage to back it up!

I have been pondering the IA gig again, and think chances are very, very slim. The main hint that kept my hopes up was that Adam said in OK that he was coming back to that part of the country. A "soon" was a logical inference, and since OK is not a major entertainment hub, Idol seemed a good bet. Now I wonder if this cryptic hint could be Queen related. No offense to Oklahoma, but I don't think a Queen tour would be playing there. When Spike said BIG, I would assume he meant big in that they will be all over the world, but I would not expect a lot of cities. Probably limited to major cities (NY, LA, Tokyo, Sydney, etc) spread out throughout the world. I woud say no more than 20 and that may even be a high estimate. And if Adam does one offs during the Idol season, that would be fine. I mean as long as he is on a stage and I can see him live, I don't see the big difference between a one off or an official tour!

Don't recall where I read it from (Atop?) but the article basically said something like, Idol is no longer interested in non-celebrity as judge, especially when its competitors, X-Factor and Voice, are all served up with high profile stars/celebrities. I like Pharell a lot, think he's absolutely brilliant! He would bring great value and substance to the Idol judging panel.

Actually, Oklahoma has a long history with music entertainment, and still remains a prime performance location. The BOK Center here in Tulsa has consistently received industry acknowledgement for sales. It even received "Venues Today"s Hall of Headlines award in 2008 for have the highest success level worldwide for booking high end acts. We fail on a lot of stuff, but attracting music acts isn't usually one of those.
