Maybe Adam can't release his early work, because of his contract with RCA.. Adam's RCA contract (and 19R) certainly prohibits him from recording these songs again for another label unless he is dropped -- but these recordings can be released because they were recorded before he signed with RCA. This happens all of the time with artists. What we know: Adam and Monte own the songs based on ASCAP registration. ASCAP is one of 3 public performance rights organizations who collect royalties for music uses in broadcast and public places, as well as represent the public interests of composers, lyricists and music publishers. The recordings of songs written by Adam and Monte have not been released. Recordings with Adam and Monte as musicians have been released. At one point Monte and Dougasauris (who was CV's band manager) were pushing to get these recordings released. Dougasauris posted some on YouTube but they were pulled off quickly. I have come up with 2 possible explanations: Possibility #1....Malcolm didn't have all the rights to the music and Adam's lawyers found a way to hold up only the songs co-written by Adam. The label needs master rights to releases a recording. Master Rights: The permission needed to use sound recordings in other media. in films or other visual media. Usually held by a record company; Master rights are worthless unless you also have synchronization rights to the underlying song. Synchronization Rights: The permission needed to record songs, music or lyrics in films or other visual media. Possibility #2....Adam wrote a check in 2009 to keep Hi Fi from releasing the songs he wrote for a year. He had to do it again in 2010. Since Hi Fi had that Take Two album listed in Fall 2010, I do not think that there is a rights issue.

Just saw this on twitter....not to get things going again (please not!) but I do like the statement of letting others call out the injustice in lieu of group AFL fans. www.adamofficial.com/uk/node/1966509We/I often comment about RCA Ed's poor communications management skills when he misses but this one is just great. I am posting the full comment here: Reading the AO.com thread it was effective.

RCA Ed: Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 09:35 Confucius Say... Pick Your Battles. You know what I'm talking about. Let others call out this injustice rather than shouldering the weight and the eventual backlash yourselves. In fact, I'm pretty sure Adam himself would tell you to "let bygones be bygones," and he certainly wouldn't react to what happened the way some of you have been...am I wrong? Adam's talent will conquer all of these slights or past controversies in the end. Encouraging witchhunts are not the answer. You know what, though? I don't like to be told what to do, not even by Adam, or Adam's self-appointed spokesperson. My feelings about the CB vs. AMA situation feel valid to me and if I want to let ABC know how I feel, I'm going to do it, as an individual, not as a representative of Adam's fan base. Sorry, Ed. Somebody has to say it. Don't you mean that you came for the apple pie?

Adam commented on The Citizen Vein songs in a Radio Q&A during the tour (I think in Ohio or Pennsylvania). It was one of the few radio station interviews with audience questions. Adam said we will never see them released. Does anyone remember which interview?
Lisa Pittman said at one time Adam/Monte had recordings of 26 songs. She said there are many we haven't heard. I love most of the CV songs.

I think what Ed is referring to is the twitition campaign not simply complaining to ABC on your own behalf or stating your opinion. There are some out there speaking for Adam fans as s whole and that is what could rebound on Adam.

But not under a banner of a Glambert campaign (and yes there is a petition floating around). Protesting as Glambert69 just makes ppl roll their eyes. Adam doesn't need that. That was Ed's point, that's all.

Q3, Thankyou for this mornings article. Very insightful! I have always been vocal about human and gay rights within my circle of family and friends but now I speak up wherever the subject is discussed. I think it started with defending Adam. I owe this change for the better to him.

I love most of the CV songs. I have been trying to find that interview -- it was right after Dougasauris had posted a few of the songs you YouTube for a brief period of time. If anyone has a link, please post. I think that the release of the CV songs in November 2009 would have been a problem for Adam -- they would have muddied his image -- but releasing them now would be much less of a problem and might have a benefit. I respect any artist's right to decide what music they want to release and what should not be replaced, but the scraps we have from live performances and the Fonzerelli dance remixes make me want to hear the studio recordings. I think he could negotiate for really clear labeling on the album, which Take One lacked, and that would eliminate some of the problems of people not realizing these are old recordings. A potential benefit of releasing these old recordings (besides me getting to hear them ). If these old alt rock recordings were out there, it might change a few minds about his musical theater orientation. Adam was frontman for a rock band for over 3 years before Idol. I think if more people knew about this, he would not have to battle so much for credibility as a rock artist. (Read
