8.11.12 Japan Promotion starts

I think a bump starts with the official press conferences with the new idol panel, not based on a simple announcement or even just based on speculation, like it is now for Adam and others.

I agree that I was surprised how early Mariah tried to push the single. I think the majority of people just don't think much about idol in July/August and so her announcement is probably not yet digested by most, hence no i-tunes bump.

Once people have these new judges in front of them on every tv-channel multiple days in a row (end of August? maybe), then things start to pick up.

That said, it is probably also premature to call the song dead. Given the upcoming news cycle, it may still start climbing when the news reaches the millions.

Same is though true for Adam. I think, if RCA is smart (major IF), then they release cuckoo now to tie into the AI announcements, the PLL crazy train topic, halloween and the new TV season schedule with regular regular promotion. And then once Pharrell has been introduced and he and Adam had TV face time together in front of audiences (January), then use Trespassing and introduce the storyline of producer and singer songwriter team together on idol. Right now in the fall, given that Pharrell is not a household name, I think this story would be wasted on the public, tbh.

As far as 'the job', I have leaned towards a done deal since a long time, especially given the empty September calendar, so for me the news from JP today, just confirm my suspicion. I think he was a preferred choice since months and a couple of weeks ago when they were flying people to LA for talks, they were just bringing the whole panel together to do a final determination along the lines of...how do these people work together on a panel, how is the chemistry, is everything working as expected.

That is probably also when they do a bit of press preparation 'training' and when we got that tweet from Adam with the Paul McCartney interview about drug usage, he probably had just been through a round of "Do you have to be quite so honest in what you are saying" with somebody and my guess is, it annoyed him, but did not stop any proceedings, just something that happened.

This is the stage in the negotiation process, where a change would only be made, if something unexpectedly negative came up. You are 90 % sure you have the right panel already and the papers are ready for the final signatures and approvals from all sides.

One additional hint that AI is happening for Adam is that in the present interviews no one is asking about it. Obviously, the interviewers in Japan were told that the question is off limits, otherwise it would be insane for any interviewer right now, not to ask that question.

ETA: Clearly I wrote this before realizing that there was a whole twitter party going on...but I also lean towards still thinking he is in talks, perhaps the signatures are not yet dry...who knows, but I'll not delete my post. Still think it is happening. I agree with what all others have been saying about his tweets this evening.
