But was Kate Bush actually there? Sounded like the recorded track.

I haven't heard anyone announced. If one is an ignoramus like me, how do we know? They haven't announced anyone, really. Don't feel bad! I just happen to be in college in the 80s during a big British wave, so I know a lot of these bands from early MTV days.

But was Kate Bush actually there? Sounded like the recorded track. I wondered that too. Are they actually showing the singers?

But was Kate Bush actually there? Sounded like the recorded track. She must've been there, because they made a big deal about her first live performance, but I'm dodging in and out from working. A lot of this seems to be taken from wide shots. I'm wondering if the packaged NBC show will easier to see the performers tonght? ETA: That is unless they cut out Kate Bush as a lesser-known entity. That would sure make my opinion of NBC coverage even lower.

Kate was there -- they showed her running up the "hill".

Hmmm, Kate Bush is who they were talking about? lol. LOVE her, but funny we thought they might be referring to Bowie! ETA: I mean when announcers were saying someone coming up who "hasn't performed live in a long time." Still, big surprises I'm sure of it. Uhhh Kate Bush hasn't performed live in 10 years. Bowie hasn't performed in 6.

It's not going to make a difference at this point, but personally I don't think the closing ceremony of the Olympics should be restricted to performers from the host country. The opening ceremony--fine, because that's the host country's way of saying, "Welcome, here's what we're all about." But the closing ceremony should acknowledge that the world has come together and celebrated together. It should be all-embracing, not nationalistic.
