Someone mentioned about the backup singers not being there. Just to point out, that the band is acutally props on this one. Adam is singing to a track here, and the band is acting to play along. Notice no microphones on the drums, no cables coming out of the keyboard, and if you notice on Tommys Marshall Amplifier head, if it where turned on the two switches on the bottom left would glow orange. This is common on TV shows, so no big deal, but thought I would point it out. Peace Tried to reply to you earlier......twilight zone??? Curious, appreciate your opinion, did you enjoy Queen/AL?

Usually, Q3, I would agree with everything you said about the numbers of the album and a Grammy Nom. Except this album is different. It was a #1 BB album. It made histroy. If RCA submits it for consideration and they should, I can see it getting a nomination. I forget, does a committee pick from submissions, for the nominees? Or are the nominees voted on by the members? Anyone have a list of the #1 BB albums so far this year? The academy is comprised of more than 19,000 musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals - these are members who have been credited on at least six commercially released songs (credits can be technical or creative). Qualification: Musicians and labels can submit recorded music to the Recording Academy for consideration. A group of 150 Grammy Academy members receive each submission to make sure it meets the qualifications for being considered for a Grammy in that year for which it has been submitted. Nomination Ballot: Then the Grammy voters get a ballot of all of the submissions -- prob 400+ in the Pop Vocal Album category. Members are directed to vote only in their areas of expertise; they may vote in up to 20 categories in the genre fields plus the four categories of the General Field. These votes are tabulated and the five leading vote getters in each category become the Grammy nominees. Grammy Ballot: All voting members of the Recording Academy Recording Academy members can vote in each general category (i.e., Song of the Year) and a limited number of subcategories. These votes are then counted, and the winner in each category becomes the Grammy winner. Pop is a multi-genre vocal award. The full process: www.grammy.org/recording-academy/awards/grammy-awards-voting-process>> I think Trespassing is a real contender for Best Pop Album -- as a recorded performance, chart rank and history are just a plus. But it will be a very competitive category. There is little Adam (or Sony) can do to make something a Grammy winner. The voting poll is too large -- 19,000 members most are indie. It is very different than the Academy Awards. >> I think Kelly Clarkson will get another nomination in this category for Stronger. The rest is a bit of a mystery to me but there is a lot of time to figure it out. A couple of weeks ago I would have added Frank Ocean, now I am less sure about that one. Then there are the usual suspects -- like John Mayer. And there will be a pop diva nominated. Here is a link to the winners: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Pop_Vocal_Album This is a really tough category.

The outfit was well thought out - pants, medges, long sweater/coat - the Japanese appreciate fashion. Performance was perfect - thanks for bringing it over, Wal! No matter what the situation or language barrier he needs to navigate, he always comes across as gracious and happy to be there. He is such a great ambassador. LOVED the outfit, love the look... Very cool! LOVE the pants!

Got to weigh in on the hair. Crap, that's funny to me..."weigh in". I've been detoxing since Mother's Day and lost 15 lbs so "weigh in" is apropos. ha! but detox isn't because I'm posting so you know what that means. or maybe you don't. Posting/drinking. Hair. I prefer the black but this platinum sushi thing is not bad imo. Nice for a change. I actually envy people who have the nerve to change things up. I'm such a bland, same ol' same ol' burrito, I would never criticize anyone who has the gumption to be different. If I were brave I'd slather my tortilla in honey mustard or something. Yuck. Not a good idea now that I think of it. There's a reason I'm a bland burrito. While I'm here, I went to Winstar. I was excited to see him live at a seated event. The last time I saw him live it was a GA concert and I don't have good memories of the audience around me. But the minute he entered the stage the entire audience surged to their feet, me included. Even with a seat, we were on our feet the entire time. The good news is, with seats behind and in front of me I didn't feel like a packed sardine. Adam was other worldly to me. I get the alien from another planet thing. I've watched him countless times on my computer screen but to see him live, to see that figure I've seen on my screen a zillion times actually perform and sing in the human flesh with such command and such skill and such pizazz is almost too much to take. How can a creature from this planet do that? They can't, hence the alien. Also, while I'm here, if Adam wants Idol I want it for him, but if he doesn't get it, yay, because I've boycotted Idol since the injustice and I really don't want to get sucked back in. It's all about me dontcha know. Glad to see you burrito!! We've been missing you. Welcome back!!!

On the movie ideas - I would love to see Adam in a movie about young, thin Elvis. He could do the Twitch. He's got the moves. And he would be great. Of course, he would need a dialect coach. Like y'all? Haven't you y'all spent a good deal of right much time in Mississippi? If only Adam's people knew what resources there are here at ATop... Seriously! Elvis is from Tupelo, Miss-sippi. He would have said "all y'all" and Yes m'am -- at least until he "went all Hollywood". And there are Elvis biopics in the works: www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/09/first-movie-about-elvis-to-be-released-next-year.htmlThere has never been an official Elvis biopic. And the estate and CKX has not been willing to license the music. "For years, Hollywood players from American Idol creator Simon Fuller to billionaire producer Steve Bing have tried to make a biopic about Elvis Presley. --- But a handful of key issues stand in the way, from the narrative challenges presented by Elvis' complicated and at times dark personal story to working with CKX Inc., the company that controls Presley's music, image and other intellectual property. ,,,,, Some filmmakers hope to license Presley's music from Sony BMG, which owns the singer's recordings. But the famously tightfisted CKX, which acquired 85 percent of Elvis Presley Enterprises from Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, for $100 million in 2005, must approve all uses." ` Soaked, Unless radio jumps on board for the next single there is no chance of Trespassing going gold let alone platinum without something big change in its trajectory. Idol could be big enough, but a movie could be big enough also. A one time performance on various TV morning, afternoon and night talk shows, big radio concerts and one offs do not help sales very much as we have seen. I think about this a lot, and I cannot think of another way that will help his album sales besides radio, movies or AI. Because Adam is such a good live entertainer, he will have a very satisfying and lucrative career anyway without T selling well. He is lucky to have this other avenue to success. What do you see as a path toward more record sales I don't know what the label is going to do to promote the new single. I was quite surprised that they decided to release the new single now. I'd prefer that the push NCOE harder on the radio before they release a new single. In my own theory, if NCOE is on heavy rotation on the radio, there will be more chance for the next single to be played and vice versa. When Adam said the new single would be announced soon, you were excited, I guess, but did you feel it come totally unexpected??? I was even a bit shocked. So I guess there could be something going on that makes it a good time for the label to release a new single (I might be wrong here, but I couldn't think other wise, I couldn't explain why new single NOW). When the first 2 singles are not successful, there is no way the radio will be on board this time b/c in their mind Adam is not a hit maker. Idol is the best I can think of to explain the release of the new single, but isn't it better to release a new single when AI is aired and Adam can make good impression on TV, which is some time next year, not now? So it might be something else that none of us knows. We've got to wait and see how things unfold. In terms of movie, I think it takes a long time to make an impact on record sales. I'd rather have Adam's songs played in a movie than him acting in a movie singing some one else song. If he sings some one else song and if these songs are of different genre from his, it may not even make any significant impact on his music sales at all. Think about Queenbert, how many concert goers were blown away by Adam's voice, and how many out of those ended up buying Trespassing, were there any buying FYE at all? That doesn't mean I don't like to see Adam on the big screen, I do. It's just NOT NOW.

I just got the list of BB #1 albums so far this year that are Pop. Not putting Adele's here because it is not eligible this year. One Direction Madonna Adam Lambert John Mayer Justin Beiber* Including Kelly Clarkson because she's had a great year, even though the album was not #1 P!NK will debut at #1, I'm sure. Maroon 5 should be there also, even though it premiered at #2. So, if we are talking Grammy noms, for Pop, IMO, Adam has a chance of a nomination. The album got outstanding reviews. It made history and the Grammy's just might want to honor that! Remember, sales seem to be all about singles these days, so very few albums are tearing up the sales charts! And The Grammy is one award award that is not about sales. #1 albums are a good place to start. (And should have been #1's like Stronger.) Justin Bieber and SuBo got nominated in 2009 in this category. So it is often about sales not artistic accomplishment. Rihanna got a nomination in 2009 for Loud (#3), "Talk That Talk" (#3) could be nominated. Duffy won in 2009 with an album that peaked at #4 in the US. (Usually there is a British artist nominated. Could be OD but I hope not.) Sheryl Crow nominated in 2009 for Detours, peak was #2. I never, never would have predicted that one. Last year Cee Lo Green "The Lady Killer" (album) got nominated and it peaked at #9. No chance I would have picked that album. ---- I'll make predictions in the Fall. Not playing until the rest of the possible releases are out.
