sooo... it is morning Aug. 17th in Tokyo already... nothing on Adam's calendar - may be a sound check for the festival? the question remains why was the Aug. 16th live chat cancelled ??? ??? ???... do we have any ideas? Just a rumor -- but he may have had a conflict with something taped for later broadcast in Japan. My source for this is in Japanese and my Japanese is very rudimentary so I may not be translating correctly. But I confirmed it with someone who is fluent in Japanese-English. ETA: I hear that Aussies are always suckers for puppies and kittens. I am not impressed. I am constantly amazed at your sources and resources, Q3. :lninja: And regarding looking for "new" music... One could make a whole playlist of Adam singing all his versions of the same song! Don't know who brought it over the other day, but his "Trespassing" from MyFM is just plain fun! I know it's not really new, but...

Yeah, and I'm not getting the cross-pollination between E!, NBC, and Fox. I didn't get how Ryan Seacrest became a correspondent/interviewer at the NBC Olympics when he is so closely associated with Fox, and how "Home" all the sudden gets major exposure on a competing network because Al Michael's daughter is involved in American Idol. And didn't someone post that there is a new show on E! that Ryan Seacrest is producing with Kevin Jonas, with Nick making occasional appearances? (I really have not been following closely to know if my facts are straight, but all these things do give one pause if they are true.) I dunno. That and the Demi Lovato as representing the "youth contingent" on X-Factor, the criticism of Idol not being youth-oriented enough, and the resurgence of boy bands, like One Direction. I really think we need to view this as a big possibility. I have teen daughters. I can help only from what I have experienced. One of my daughters was/is a huge Jonas Fan. I have seen Nick three times in concert, twice with the brothers and once alone (He is very shy when not singing). Nick's fans have all went to One Direction. They do not want to see Nick on Idol (They think it is for old people). The reality show with the brother has some possibilities. They are interested in the romance of Kevin and his new wife. Demi and XFactor are a different story. One Direction came from XFactor UK. All the 1D fans re-watch the videos of the XF performances. This has introduced the format to them. They are excited to see Demi. They consider her a role model whose singing career is at the beginning stage. My daughter and her group did not watch the XFactor US season 1 but are planning to give it a chance for its second season. They have no interest in Britney. I asked if there was anyone to get them to watch idol. She said maybe Pink, but really the format and music of Idol were boring. They know nothing or care about Mariah. My daughter belongs to a PG Jonas Forum which is mostly girls 13 to 20. That is where they talk about 1D and their hatred for Beiber. They want Nick on Broadway and singing with his brothers. They rarely talk about Nick or Joe Jonas any more, only the married couple. I hope this helps understand the lack of Nick enthusiasm for AI judge. I wondered the same thing about Ryan and the cross promotion. The media has only two working journalist. Ryan Seacrest for Entertainment. George Stephanopoulos for everything else. IMO Demi was the bargain of the year. It was brilliant casting on the part of Simon Cowell. Time will tell.
More reasons for Adam not to be a AI judge.

IMO Demi was the bargain of the year. It was brilliant casting on the part of Simon Cowell. Time will tell. Yeah, I get all that. In an earlier thread, I predicted my daughter would say "Him? He's so old" when I floated the idea of Nick Jonas as a possible judge (she's all of 11) a few weeks ago. I wasn't quite right; she said "What? They were big, like, three years ago!" ;D And she and all her friends are great admirers of Demi Lovato. They are too young to understand about drug addiction (hopefully), but they do have a sense of her getting her act together and I think it makes them feel savvy to know a least a bit about it--whether we want them to or not. (Then again, Charlie Sheen is a major cultural touchstone to them, who they regard as a total loser but still talk about and is the punchline of nonsensical jokes! I say, why are you doing that??!!! He's not worth any kind of infamy/notoriety he receives, especially from middle schoolers! They are just sorting out "grown-up" issues, I think.) So I get that teens will roll their eyes, but I don't think AI necessarily has its finger on the pulse of the American teenager. (I mean, come on; it's such a corny show, which had a big appeal for me--before things got real, lol.) I also think they could view NJ as having a career/reputation that could be resuscitated. All their previous picks have been a little long in the tooth, to say the least. They might still view NJ as "fresh." Anyway, hopefully I'm completely wrong!

Besides the fact that this is a great pic, Adam has more and more friends in the business who like/love and respect him - and want him to do well. IMO, it will just continue to build.

I imagine they were sold, what I am worrying about is that they will not restock. All three major US chains have Trespassing on their active merchandise list -- that means that they are restocking. Trespassing sold apx. 2,000 CD's last week in US retail. It will be restocked. The three major US chains are Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. The exceptions are Walmarts and Targets that do not have music department -- a small percentage. It is also being restocked in B&N. >> STEALING BRIAN MAY'S SOAPBOX FOR A SEC << ETA: Most ATop members do a great job of maintaining perspective on Adam and the music business. This message is just intended to be a reminded to us (including me) that being an Adam fan is best when it is joyous and fun. And that, after all, many things we all worry about (sales, radio airplay, Idol, why did the chat get cancelled, etc.) are not life and death issues. And the world is filled with much bigger problems. When I get down I remember this quote from Bridge Jones, "At times like this, continuing with one's life seems impossible... and eating the entire contents of one's fridge seems inevitable. I have two choices: to give up and accept permanent state of spinsterhood and eventual eating by alsatians, or not. And this time I choose not. I will not be defeated by a bad man and an American stick insect! Instead, I choose vodka. And Chaka Khan." When I am confronted with doubts, I choose vodka and Chaka Kahn right now. Cheers!Just a suggestion, save the angsting for real problems -- like the 7 US soldiers and 4 Afghans who died in the helicopter crash in Afghanistan yesterday. Adam will make millions this year, he has a major label contract with a label who supports him and trusts him -- Exec Prod credit is not just a throw away title. He has a great family and Sauli. He is knocking them dead in Japan and even got Japanese Freddie to go to his concert. (I think this is a first for JF.) He has a tour in planning. A new single getting released. A brilliant licensing deal and some songs he wrote worth licensing. ETC ETC ETC ETC I do not think Adam really wants fans to worry -- he is here to entertain us and put out an album filled with dance music. So my suggestion is put on some hot music -- turn it up loud -- and dance. And if you playlist is all a single artist (no names but I've been there), add in something else. There is so much great music out there -- and some of it is by my favorite singer, Adam Lambert. >> OFF THE SOAP BOX << One last thing -- if my post did not inspire you to celebrate the good and to save your concern for what really matters, imagined you lived in Ohio and got 7 or 10 Romney v. Obama commercials an hour on TV and phone calls and robopolls and mailings and.......it is a nightmare here!! Thanks for the pep talk and sorry if I seemed too gloomy. I have always been a glass half full person, but am in reality a very happy and peaceful person who gets a ton of joy out of being an Adam fan or I wouldn't do it. As someone from a safe blue state, you have my sympathy. We are indeed lucky not to have those ads and robo calls non stop.
