mystery solved...the quote about adam is from this sidebar on the hollywood reporter page: Jordin Sparks on the Changes at 'American Idol' Season 6 contestant Jordin Sparks shares that she is sad to see Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler leave the show but would like to see the vacancy filled by 'AI' alumni Adam Lambert.

I just hope that Adam didn't have his hopes up for this. I hate to think he is disappointed. As for me, I have pretty much reconciled myself to the fact it was probably not going to happen, and that he will have to try to promote his new music the hard and uncertain way. I sure wish radio was more open to him.
Off to go vote for the Do Something Awards because it is a very small thing I can do to help

If there is even an ounce of truth to this article, it tells me that Idol is not trying to get a quality judging panel. They are just going for "names." They are following The Voice's idea that people will tune in a show for the judges. It doesn't matter about the contestants. Sad for me, because I love Idol & think they have had the best and without a doubt, the only successful contestants! ETA: WTF?! Shirley tweets a photo out of Adam now? Hmmm, strange, no? THIS. Both of it. Perhaps you are right with your doubts and we are seeing the last battle round, rather than a de facto announcement. Idol will want their press moment and not a SH article to spill the beans, and SH is a pro. There are too many things not quite right about the article, yet it clearly is fed by insider information. a) Coke -Pepsi is not going to fly. If Nicki M. would have to give up the Pepsi spokes person role we would hear that in a separate article and not from SH. b) This 'panel' sounds more like a bragging statement, look what type of panel we can attract (giving idol credibility or something), rather than the real panel. c) I don't think this panel would actually work. Two divas, no industry expert, self-absorbed panel, I don't believe KU and JI are very interested to sit around and listen to Mariah's BS, there is just too much wrong with this panel to be the final announcement. But having said that...the type of people that are being considered, may still mean that Adam does not have a chance, so I am preparing myself for that result and I was pretty optimistic over the last few weeks. Bummer, because like you, I think Adam would be good for both the contestants as well as the show and its format. Wish they would see it that way.

Maybe Adam and Nick Jonas are battling it out for the "least expensive judge's seat," lol. I mean, Nicki Minaj would not come cheap; neither would Enrique.
Eh, I am about over it. Maybe they will make the announcement next week so we can all move on.
ETA---An Idol panel with Mariah, Nicki, and Keith Urban would be a train wreck almost worth tuning in for; add Nick Jonas and I just might.

Ah. Thanks. So this is how it works. Learned something. Kind of means that these google searches are dummer than I thought, if they blend the articles together this way. Makes the result kind of useless. Mys*&@^#r, I agree that in an April article this would have been very strange, that's why I asked the question. It would be strange with any date attached to it, btw. Her job is to be all biz and not at all involved. I just was hoping that in an earlier life she may have been in a different position, but clearly she was already in charge during AI8 and therefore detached for all we know. Simon Fuller was the front when it came to the connection between Adam and the biz side. And he WAS at QAL concerts, so they used him in this capacity again. But it may be irrelevant for the outcome, unfortunately. We will have to wait for the final announcement and prepared for anything, I suppose.

well...meh on that new Shirley H article. I sure was hoping for Idol - perhaps he might be involved in mentoring?
if not Idol WHAT does Adam have lined up for September/October? It's driving me nuts.
(can't see Nicki and Mariah on the same judging panel - don't think Mariah would go for that. Why no Pharell and Joe Jonas mention? ...weird).
