Hopefully the next Adam single will fit US Pop Radio. Listening the 10 tracks left on the CD (it will not be a bonus track), and forgetting what I like because my taste does not matter, here's my ranking of Pop-ability -- the % is my odds on each track being the next single -- JMHO: 45% Cuckoo (pure pop, solid hook, simple, right beat, production would fit pop radio, not retro, would fit with Pop and HAC radio) 25% Trespassing (much better live then recorded IMHO, seems like Adam's pick, what radio format? I gave it 25% because IF they have a way to promo this song without radio, I think it could be a hit. Just can't see it fitting with current Pop radio or HAC.) 20% Naked Love (extra points because Adam did not write it and RCA has picked all non-Adam songs for his singles, fits radio but generic on the studio version, better live then recorded, would fit with Pop and HAC radio -- but there are many songs like it.) 5% Kickin' In, Pop the Lock (like a lot of this album -- so much better live! 3% Shady, Chokehold (great album tracks that have no radio home. What station would really support either of these two songs?) 1% Outlaws of Love, Broken English (my fav track on the album is BE and it would have been a megahit in 1988.) <1% odds: Underneath The problem with these calculations, as I see it, is that Adam does not 'fit' US pop and these sorts of choices have not worked so far, with this album. Perhaps it is time to go with what people like rather than what we 'think' is radio friendly. Radio is not 'friendly'. It is a bully. You can only win with bullies when you challenge them, or decorate their a## with gold. Where would 'Rolling in the Deep' have fit re pop radio...? I have thought this since the choice was made for NCOE (Totally against it) that radio friendly needed to be thrown out the window and just release Adam's "sound." Even if NCOE made it, it sounds nothhing like the rest of the album. Sorry, but there is no funk in NCOE. I agree, with you dancygeorgia, that Shady totally reminds me of Rollin in the Deep! Quite a few unusual songs made it on Pop this year. And if RCA had gone with something more original, I don't think we'd be worried about radio right now.

I am little leery to even mention this because I will sound like a complete stiff, but I have a little problem with Cuckoo because it is so frivolous about metal illness. Also "don't give a fuck" is unacceptable for the radio I would bet. Of course the f-word can be changed. It's not about mental illness. It's about being different, wild, fun-loving, and nonconformist. Some people may use the word "cuckoo" to mean mentally unbalanced but the song is not applying the term in that way. It has nothing to do with people who are suffering from mental illness. The song includes the terms straight jacket and electric shock both outdated treatments for mental illness, and also says "I am a danger to myself" which could also be taken as a sign of mental instability. I am not trying to make a big deal of this and I still like the song for the most part, but this aspect makes me feel just a little uncomfortable at times.

These expressions are metaphors -- and expressions like "straight jacket" are part of American culture -- very commonly used in horror films and magic acts and.... But you inspired a thought -- Cuckoo is a perfect Halloween song. I am doubling down on Cuckoo as the next single. PLL, Adam + Halloween = CUCKOO

(From the airport) Col O'Connor @2pussycat Tommy was the first to come out. Rubbing his arms and his HUGE sunglasses.. Then Isaac joined him. Such a smiling friendly sweet guy. He ... ..joined us all saying hi and accepting hugs and welcomes.. asked where to get a coffee.THEN ADAM CAME OUT. TBH almost didn't recognize him. .. Said OMG send just walked up hugged him and said welcome to Aust .. he looked tired and makeup free. But was still s next MOB. What's MOB? Internetslang dictionary: The Meaning of MOB MOB means "Money Over Bitches" or "Hostile Creature (Gaming)"

I was hoping for Trespassing. Cuckoo doesn't stand out. At least I get to keep my testicle ;D You can keep 2 And trust me -- IF it is Trespassing, I will be pleasantly surprised and work my tail off to get that song on every radio station, everywhere is the world. But knowing RCA I set aside my hopes and dreams. I do not think radio is a "bully", but I know that the label is the "boss".

Also, in days gone by, gay individuals were sometimes put in mental institutions. They were thought to be a danger to themselves, and perhaps to others, and were subjected to a variety of treatments, including electroshock.
Social commentary + use of terms that are now common in our culture as metaphor.
