seems to me that the whole AI "model" is "I have no experience, I sing in the shower and now I win AI a become a star"....having pros compete makes it a total different show... - that is why I am still surprised that Adam was "let in" as far as the judges and I am even more surprised that he got thru the Hollywood rounds... it was really a miracle...this very miracle makes me believe that the UNIVERSE is on his side and he will succeed beyond our collective imagination.... But there were tons of people who had experience in the music business, Melinda was a backup singer, Cook, Daughtry, Paul McDonald, etc. had bands that I believed released albums, Kris, Matt, Taylor, Lee, etc. had albums. All of these people were performing and probably getting paid. How does that make them any different from Adam? None of us had ever heard of any of these people including Adam. And I remember reading that if anyone from Season 8 should be disqualified, it would be Alison because she had some contract/deal from winning a Mexican singing contest. This is correct, there have been several Idol contestants who have had to get released from record contracts in order to be in the Top 24. Some have been disqualified because their record co. wouldn't release them. Others have had record deals in the past, but not at the time they auditioned. There have been some very experienced contestants in the past 11 years, but there have also been some inexperienced contestants like Scotty. He went from performing in a few local talent shows straight to winning Idol. I think he has been the closest person to the description "singing in the shower to Idol winner" over the last 11 years of AI. Of course, Idol wants you to BELIEVE they have plucked the majority of their contestants straight off the farm or straight out of a paint store, etc. :  |

I think Perez is doing Broadway.. heaven help us. Oh.My.Gawd!! Can you imagine anyone paying actual money to see him? I'm feeling a little queasy just thinking about it. |

Off topic, but I saw that Nigel is producing a remake of the TV show Fame. Would be so awesome if Terrance and Sasha could get roles on that show!
