Groundhog Day is a traditional holiday in the United States celebrated February 2. It has its roots in traditional pagan festivities, but today it's known mostly for a small town called Punxatawney, Pennsylvania, where a pet groundhog is pulled out of his hole. Depending on whether he sees his shadow, there are six more weeks of winter, or an early spring. 2. Groundhog Day is a great movie with Bill Murray where he has to relive the same day over and over until he gets it right. The movie was a huge hit, and Americans recognize the phrase "Groundhog Day" to mean living the same damn day over and over.  |
