I think that the only people in the world that really care about who the judges will be R US. I can't imagine any same person to give a slightest smallest f^ck about it.... Am i too off? ITA No one else is as vested as we are in this decision except for the candidates themselves The new Idol judges are a moderately big story in the entertainment world, and will get mentioned by all the usual suspects. I think the inclusion of one of their own on the panel will increase interest in the story as it will be the first time this happened on this type of TV talent show.

nica, you are way off. There are 15 million people who care! Idol fans are fanatics and loyal. naaahhhh...as surprising as it might be - I watched AI religiously from AI2 to AI8 skipping the initial rounds as I could not stand the idiocy and humiliation of those episodes. (I never voted until Adam, but that's not the point). I could care less about anything on that show. I would turn it on, watch and turn it off - I knew nothing of politics, drama, tours, after AI life of the contestants, online forums or media coverage... nevertheless I was one of those who counted as viewers. I really think that a very small portion of the viewing public gets involved to the point of caring .... again, I might be projecting.... Do you think TMZ, The Hollywood Reporter, E! Entertainment Tonight, Extra, NY Post, US Weekly, People and a bazillion international blogs publish every rumor for their health? Of course not. The stories get hits. There is investment here and it's certainly NOT from Adam fans (sure, we're there but in a fractional percentage). This is what it is all about. AI knows how to work the system. They know that a mystery garners interest and that is what they are milking to keep this story alive. That is why I've contended (and Nigel said) all along they would leak a hundred names and dish out a ton of stories. Done and done. As inept as they've appeared these past several weeks, they (I believe) actually know what the fuck they're doing. Almost to a scary degree. That's why all along I haven't believe for a minute any of this is random OMG... we don't know who to sign ... we're clueless and though we're TV executives with 20-40 years of experience and pull down high six-figure salaries, we can't make a basic fucking decision ... Riiight. : They know that people are watching. They have planned it all to keep media on the hook. Media has obliged. If the stories weren't getting hits, media would stop covering. AI is in a position where they are going to push too far and no one will care. THAT'S why they need to just announce now and move to the next level. They've bled this story dry. ETA: Misha, just saw your post.

OK people, can someone please explain WHY it is a surprise that TP is the next single? After the JP promo - what else could it be? For me the OMG is that there was single news --- and I think many Adam watchers expect it to be Trespassing.

I probably watched the first season more closely, but after that it was mostly background noise until I happened to hear Adam. I never cared about any of the contestants until then.

What part of quiet negotiations and gag order is confusing here??? We are OBVIOUSLY not going to get ANYTHING that Idol does not want leaked. THAT IS A GIVEN. It has been patently obvious for ME (and others) from the beginning. Idol sets the tone and they mete out the information they want made public. They can manipulate the narrative however they wish and that is EXACTLY what they are doing. THIS has been my point (OUR point - #ibelievers!!!) from the very beginning. If you are taking the AI articles at face value then you are 10 steps behind at every turn. The only way to try to fathom what is happening is to attempt to connect the dots with the extraneous information that we have the privilege of knowing because we follow Adam so closely. If you are relying on what AI has spoon fed the press deliberately, then you know essentially nothing. Go ahead and prepare for an announcement of a Diddy. Kanye, Mariah. Nicki. Keith. Nick. Enrique. Alanis. Lenny. Nine-person panel. If you take the sum total of all the information we know because Adam said so (AS MUCH AS HE IS ALLOWED TO SAY – I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!! And btw, I resent the insinuation of him maintaining his professional integrity makes him a liar). The entire thing is what Fox has wanted from the beginning – secrecy, a surprise, TONS of leaks and false names (Nigel said that from the first day Adam's name was mentioned) and they have engineered their little scenario brilliantly. They have people eating out of their hands and they divulge their information at will. I can't believe anyone who has followed a fraction of this believes every story they've given the press. BRB, drawing up sales documents for every bridge in the country ... Adam has said nothing but that he wants the job and has a shot at the job. You can parse his sentences, stir in extraneous information, wish fulfillment, body language analysis and amateur psychology, and conclude that he will announce the idol gig during a concert with Elvis on Jupiter. After you leave the literal behind everything is possible. It's hard to admit that you don't know, especially with something like this. If he gets it, we'll have SO much fun every week. It'll mean a huge boost for his career, too. The good thing is he really is up for consideration, and he might get it. I'm afraid that's all we really know. He did admit he has talked to Idol to be precise "It was lovely to talk to them". That is a step up from he wants the job and has a shot at it.
