As we come closer to the end of the Idol mystery I've been thinking a lot about my role as a fan. IF Adam DOESN'T get the judge position, here is my pledge: I will recognize that it was an honor to just be on the list of those considered for the highest exposure gig on tv. I will not whine all over the internet and twitterverse--'cause that is sure not what Adam needs or wants. I will not be all over his butt (or his team's) about what is next because I know they are working hard to sell him to a tough market. I will remember all he has accomplished in a short time. I will love him no matter if the world joins me or not. I will remember that music and performance are in his soul and he will never stop singing. I will be happy, as will he, as long as he has that. That being said, I am still on team #ibelieve!...but I am not out of touch with reality. Thank you! You got it exactly right!!!  |

I bring this one up every time someone asks what song Adam should cover. If he sang it, I would melt into a pool of Abdul. I find Linda Ronstadt comparable to Adam in that she has a great range and can sing soft and sweet and vulnerable, or she can belt out strong, solid notes. She's very adaptable to different styles of music: she's done rock, pop, country, and big-band era songs. She even used to perform barefoot a lot!

What song would we love Adam to cover? He is so versatile the options are endless. It depends on what genre or type of music one enjoys the most, as Adam can sing the hell out of any genre. The question becomes, for me, "What Broadway song?", "What heavy duty rock song?" "What torch song?", "What funk song?", "What reggae song?", "What jazz classic?", "What folk song?", "What Christmas song?", "What pop song?", "What dance tune?", "What opera aria?" etc. etc. etc.
It would be delightful to have an album of "Adam Lambert sings the Best Of......" with one song from each genre. I'll start off with the song from Broadway I would kill to hear him sing:
