Oh my Gelly, this is my other all time favorite! Thank you! And it used to be avi of hoopla1, haven't been here a while? I am missing her.
Hoopla1 posted earlier today about her time at Burning Man - you can check in that thread. She still has the same avi. Thank you! I will go and check!

It's because of the funk and fireceness of the songs. It's why Fever in Glam Nation sounds better. It's not Monte, it's the backing tracks! I would fuckin LOVE to hear Shady just once with a backing track! I would proably die of funky happiness! Right you are! He did Shady with backing at GAY in London (or did you mean in person?) ETA Oh and I really want to hear him singing "blame the game quit blaming the gays" live OMG! No!! I had not seen this before! I love you so much right now!!

Did you notice TP is different ( regardless the backing track situation) ? No breaks in singing ( for the first time - I like the unrelentness of it) and there are other differences, too... Randomly picked for the sake of comparison: I'm sorry but who keeps making Chewbacca noises in the first video ??? Well, I like the live band versions better, especially on Kickin In. The instrumentation sounds warmer, more real, with the live band rather than like computer generated sounds. But, I will agree that the Adam backing Adam on vocals on backing tracks is better in that respect.

All the single-selling angst is starting to remind me of the presidential campaigns. As if having all the answers is as easy as pie if we had the right people making the decisions. It is a sucky situation no matter how we look at it but I am not sure what magic tricks fans want Adam's team to come up with. I meant to add to my pledge: if Adam doesn't get Idol then I will refrain from feeling like the experts know less than I do about selling songs to radio and, instead, will assume there is a lot going on behind the scenes that I will never know about and they have Adam's and their best interests and pocketbooks in mind. Why would we assume Adam would put up with anything less? ETA I have always felt that nobody can replace adam--even in backup vocals. His layering is so beautiful. This maybe why I m shocked to find I prefer many recorded songs to the live this era. Sadly, those who have Adam's best interests in mind have failed twice, behind the scenes talks or no. btikm and ncoe flopped on the radio, did not sell well, and did not help the album, which is not selling well. Selling songs to radio is not a science; if it were, there'd be no flops. Since it's obviously not a science, since people responsible have already failed Adam twice this era, there is room for backseat drivers. I will bitch aplenty.

It's good we have all these versions to compare and discuss...
One day, he is going to be so big and we'll argue whether his best concert was Wembley, 2016, or , idk, Times Square, 2019...

[/IMG]
Me three. ;D The first couple of performances of BTIKM were done with backing tracks and IMO were pretty flawless and were what I have come to expect from an Adam performance. Those are the times where I can see why "others" think Adam might be lip syncing, because the song sounds so close to the CD. I don't think it has anything to do with the band, backing singers or anything else. IMO, some songs need Adam backing Adam to sound like the songs on the CD. This is especially important when doing promo on TV or big radio promo events like the Jingle Bell Balls, where there are potential new fans listening. The back-up singers can sing along, but I miss Adam's voice in the background on live performances.
Sorry, but Imma gonna have to disagree. Why would a live performance of a song need to sound like the CD? If that's what I wanted, I could just stay home and listen to the CD. I think one of the joys of live performance is that it allows singers to try new approaches to songs, to improvise and "play" a bit. And since Adam is so talented, it's exciting to see what he can do with a song. (As evidence, see WWFM and Aftermath live vs. recorded; also, the new live endings to Cuckoo and PTL, the "rap" in NL, etc.). And I don't think Adam has done anything in the live performances of the songs from Trespassing that is a radical departure from the recorded versions. Also, I've got to think that performers enjoy the opportunity to mix things up a bit. Adam says he gets bored quickly -- I think changing things up probably helps keep songs fresh for him. Regarding singing to backing tracks, as much as I love Adam's voice, I'm enjoying hearing him sing with other voices in the mix. Not gonna get into whether the back-up singers are the right voices, but I enjoy the variety. And if I'm paying to see/hear a "live" performance, I prefer that the singing be live, too (if possible).
