I guess I'm not going to react either way about AI yet because nothing OFFICIAL has been announced. My concern at the moment is that we fans are able to go with the flow a bit (many are). But I'm always a bit worried when a few beloved Atoppers express so much investment in our fandom that they are crying or feeling huge anxiety or basing personal happiness on the outcome of Adam's career. I know many of us question our sanity at being here (yo). While I hope for the best for him, I need to stay focused on my real life and not live through someone else. Hugs to all. Just got on and WTF have I walked in to? Thanks, Holst ,for this post! This Idol thing gets me because people are so upset all the time. Let it be over with..  ETA: Can someone lead me to where this new info is that Adam is not on Idol so I don't have to sort, please? Thanks. Easy to say "Let it be over with"... but goodness - it hasn't even been a whole day since we heard. It takes a bit of time to wrap our heads around this disappointment. I really thought he had the job. :-/ |

*ducking rocks*..why on earth are we trusting all these speculative articles as the final word on Idol? I don't get it. When I hear an official announcement, then I will know definitely about the situation. Until then, no more of this for me. Idol'd out.  TRUST A BITCH!And I do. |

Here's my husbands perspective on Idol...he's never been an idol fan, but he appreciates my love for Adam. anyway...When i told him that it was most likely going to be Mariah, Nicki and Keith with Adam being a possibility for the 4th spot, his reaction was, "Why would Adam want to be part of that train wreck and seen as part of the reason for Idol's demise." He thinks that Idol is on its way down the tubes...and that this last desperate attempt is going to be even worse than the Jlo Steven Tyler debacle as far as judges go. In his mind, Adam is too good and too "relevant" for idol (yes, he used that term, even tho he never saw Adam's audition). I'm only sad because it seemed like Adam wanted it, otherwise I'm happy I have my Tuesday and Wednesday nights free!!
Lakato, I like your husband's take on this. I've felt for awhile now that Idol is in decline, and agree it may be better for Adam's rising star not to be too closely hitched to the crazy train AI has become. They've made the show more about the judges than about the contestants' talent - and since Season 8, I haven't watched AI unless Adam's appearing on it.
Though Adam may have wanted the gig, and the exposure may have been a good thing, I'm looking at this as no more serious than applying for a job and not getting it. Who in their career has received a job offer in reply to every interview they had or every resume they sent out? It just doesn't happen; no matter how good you are, or how well qualified you are, there may still be someone else who better meets the employer's current agenda.
Adam may be disappointed, but I bet he's not seeing this as the end of the world and is moving on. |
