Also, stating rumors, conjectures, allegations and tweets as if they are fact is not acceptable on the forum. For example, "Adam is clearly upset and depressed about the decision" is not okay, as it is stating facts not in evidence. "When I listened to the latest interview, Adam sounded upset and depressed TO ME," is your opinion, clearly identified as such, and is welcome. Tho', as tina said, it may be challenged.[/b] |

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong here. No one cheated. The same guy in plaid has won for the past five years, it's a pattern and it clearly shows who the average AI voter is voting for. The producers and the judges wanted Adam to win, not the dull dude in plaid. Did you watch every episode that year? Have you watched the seasons since then? Have you read articles and watched interviews that have shown that AI always did and continues to treat Adam like the winner that season? The producer during season 9 couldn't even remember Kris' name, but he brought Adam back as the ONLY past contestant to ever mentor on the show in the nine years it had been on. I admit I don't spend nearly so much time and energy on this television show as you do but I did watch Season 8 and if Kamar is incorrect in saying Adam was cheated, you are on shaky ground claiming the producers and judges wanted Adam to win. To be clear, I don't have any reason to think they wanted him to lose - esp given the exposure and encouragement he received. But recalling the season, Danny Gokey received the most inflated feedback (pimping) in many idol watchers opinion - some of whom also commented throughout the season that the producers seemed to be working on a scenario in which 'wholesome, good back story' Danny was being pushed to go up against Adam. Of course Adam proved to be incredibly likeable in addition to his undeniable talent and Kris was a darkhorse who took on the American sweetheart role as it became clear Danny was neither as talented nor as appealing as many originally expected. The judges may have been less than enthusiastic about Kris than Adam by the end (because they have ears) but as it made for good television, I doubt the producers minded. They like ratings and controversy equals PR - talent not as high on that list. Jeez, I haven't had this sort of discussion since 2009 - i hope that we do move on from Idol now - and other singing competition reality shows. JMHO YMMV but I want More Trespassing please. (I can't even imagine....) The producers and record label weren't stupid, they knew that Adam was bringing them more mainstream media buzz over a contestant than they had experienced in years. That's why they moved straight to the co-winner mode after the finale. They knew that the outside world viewed Idol as being defective because of who won that year. The rest is history.  Adam ended up being the real winner, and Kris got a nice house with his wife in Arkansas. The same thing will happen again, Idol will go on, and so will Adam. If AI wasn't in the cards, it just means it wasn't the right time, show or direction for Adam. The AI producers respected Adam enough to seriously consider him for the job and every media article was positive about the possibility. Adam is used to being told no. He has been in the entertainment world long enough to expect more nos than yeses. There will be something else to come along, there always is a "next" for the truly talented people! |
