Throw in a Bieber bash when you're having a tantrum and you'll get away with the tantrum. Good to know I don't know, but Billie Jo must be looking around at all these acts at iHeart and thinking, "what the hell???"

I have a weird theory that touches on one of yours. The original leaks on Minaj were that she was signing on for 8-10 million. The final leaks say 12 million. The difference between the 8 mil and 12 mil is 4 million, the price of a 4th judge. I think it was a last minute shiteroo (supposed to be "switcheroo" but I think my typo is better! I am leaving it!) to Randy to 1) stay in the budget and 2) keep Mariah happy. Randy may be doing this for scale. He already has his % of Mariah's salary. And coming back saves face instead of being kicked to the curb. The sudden switch from Enrique OR Adam, to suddenly "Randy is back" was too sudden for me to not think something weird happened at the end. And I also don't trust Nigel. He lies consitently, feeds TMZ info, and attacks fans on Twitter. I am right there with you! Something happened during a 7-10 day period around the time Nigel was announced as coming back as executive producer. I think Nigel was holding out for more money and AI was too scared to go to the next season without him. : I also think they were also scared that The Voice was going to get Nicki for the spring, so they wanted to pay whatever they could to get her. IMO, The Voice won out in the long run with Usher. Do you think Randy had a contract that they would have had to buy out, if they had let him go this year? Maybe that was why they were going to move him to a mentor position. Maybe they promised him development deals for new shows in the place of paying him millions of dollars this year? Maybe Randy agreed to do this season for very little? Maybe they had to keep Mariah happy after they signed Nicki and they had to give her Randy? IDK...but something shifted quickly during that one week time frame. >:( Idol had a contract with Randy that they had an option to extend another year. No sign Randy was not a budge choice -- he was estimated to earn $10 million a year from Idol. www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/randy-jackson-net-worth/Randy's new deal with Idol has been described as "lucrative". He is certainly not doing this for "scale". With FOX stepping up to pay for part of the judges salaries, I really do not think this was about money. >> I think the idea that this was for Mariah -- does make sense. -- My theory is that by mid-August FOX wanted Mariah, Nicki, Keith and Enrique -- Fox leaked it on purpose to Shirley. (This is the same thing they did with JLo and Steven -- leaked it to gauge response and generate buzz.) Fox did additional leaks to EW and TMZ. >> IMO Adam was on a back-up list in August, maybe it was just a remote possibility. If he was top-of-the list, FOX would have leaked it. >> This all happened before Nigel was signed, not after. Nigel's contract was renewed almost 12 days after the THR story that had Enrique in the chair. Mariah, Nicki and Keith got mostly good response. They worked out the deals and signed them. Nicki pretty much leaked it then tried to say she was tweeting about her perfume. Keith was confirmed by The Voice AU. A Mariah, Nicki and Keith panel would not work well. They needed another man. The problem was Enrique. The money does not seem to have been the problem (He wanted $10-$12 million vs. the lower FOX offer -- $4 million?.) His management leaked that there was other considerations than money -- specifically his privacy. FOX/Idol also had to notice the online sentiment on Enrique as a judge choice was mixed at best. They had to get started. They had loyal, reliable Randy. It would make Mariah happy and add some consistency to the show. Done deal.

[/IMG] I guess ticket prices and that its a Tuesday night, but this is a very small venue. Is Adam having trouble selling out even these small venues? The last show on the East Coast was also in DC. That was 4 months ago, and it did not have a big turn out. This is Adams only East Coast show at the moment that we are aware of. Will be sad if this event that is for such a great cause doesn't sell out. IMO I think this will be one of those special unique concerts.
The other concert was the one at National Harbor, right? Wasn't that some sort of overnight package deal? I thought it was expensive, something like $240. I also think the prices for 9:30 club are high for your average person who wants to see Adam. I realize it's a benefit and that's the reason but for a Monday night in DC, I don't see people rushing to pay that much. Also, for that price, personally, I want a seat :-) Just me. I hope it sells out over the weekend!
This was the spiked shorts concert. Honestly, I don't know that Adam would have had a whole lot going on in September anyway. It's not like they would have wanted to release the single in late Aug/early September. It is hard to do much promo before the new fall TV season starts. And they have pretty much run the course with the radio interview/performance stuff. I am beginning to think that Sept was going to be a pretty dead month regardless.

Randy Shulman þ@RandyShulman I spoke with @adamlambert about Tuesday's benefit for @md4equality at the @930club ow.ly/dUFDx @metroweekly #VoteFor6 Adam: "I kind of shy away from political events and issues -- not because I don't have my own opinions, but because I find it to be a very sensitive thing," says Adam Lambert. "And quite frankly, I'm a little bit frustrated with politics in this country. From somebody who hasn't gotten super involved, it seems like a lot of mudslinging and B.S. to me." "Ideally, that's what being an American is -- that we all have a shot [at marriage]. I hear a lot of arguments against it, where [gay activists] say, 'We should be focusing on economic issues and not human rights issues, for the election.' There's some value in that. But I also think, 'You know what? This is an economic issue for gay people. We should have the same right as a straight couple to have a tax exemption.... We should be able to raise a family that's equally protected under the law." "Question 6 isn't something that's asking me whether or not you're a Democrat or a Republican," says Lambert. "It's just a direct human rights question." "I think it's baby steps.... We have to keep in mind that it's difficult for people to sidestep into territories they're not comfortable in. I'm a singer, I'm an entertainer. I'm not a politician. But this is an issue that affects me because it supercedes politics. "In the entertainment community," he continues, "people are doing what they can. If you look at this fall season of television, there's a couple shows that are coming on with very honest, gay characters portraying real gay lives in relationships. I think that's a huge step forward. There's things that we're all doing to try to make people comfortable and to help people understand, to help erase some of the stereotypes. And that's the hardest part, that balance of celebrating who we are and our eccentricities and also trying to help people that are on the outside understand who we are. "The hurdle I'm always kind of running into, is that the movement for a while has been about us trying to display how we're the same as opposed to how we're different. I recognize that as a very important part of us blending together. But it's not my style," says the singer known for his glam-rock flamboyance. "I'm somebody who likes to be weird and different and outrageous. That's who I am as an entertainer. And so, sometimes I might not fit in with what's best for the community as far as us progressing with society. But you've got to also give a voice to those [of us] who want to be outrageous and different and rebels." "I'm about freedom of expression more than anything else," he says. "I like to push buttons a little bit -- buttons that are kind of perverse or contrary. I like to take the other side and challenge things. It's just who I am. It's part of my personality."

Fox owes Adam bigtime!!!!! they better have him in as a mentor for the whole season to make up for his income losses for sept and oct. We really have no idea what happened between Adam and Fox. Adam has never said anything about the gap in his calendar and it is not the first time he took a break while he was getting ready for a major promo wave. That said, I sure hope that Adam's public support and interest in Idol pays off in terms of appearances or a mentoring week or something. Of course with The Voice set to take away Idol's 18-49 #1 show crown this spring, I would rather see him performing on The Voice. ETA: Does anyone have the request info for WSTW's song challenge? If so, please post.
