Q3 wrote: Read more: www.adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=1136#ixzz27MfycoamI don't think it is the case either, Q3, but your comment reminds me of something I thought about when I read the earlier pages of yesterday's thread. I've had trouble keeping up lately, but at some point in the last few days (?) there was a discussion pf Adam's pre-Idol song Pop Goes the Camera. I thought about posting at the time, but got sidetracked by RL and forgot about it. But when I saw the partial Fred Bronson interview that was posted yesterday morning, it reminded me. I like Pop Goes the Camera probably best of Adam's pre-Idol original songs, but it's always surprised me how cynical it is. Prescient, yes, but cynical. And particularly cynical about fans ("I'll make bank off their devotion"). And given Adam's lack of overt or obvious cynicism, that always surprised me a little. Like, what's that about, where did it come from, and why did he aspire to that? I don't have all those answers, lol, but Bronson's question to Adam on the subject of fame caused Adam to talk about his experiences hanging out with Val Kilmer during the run of the Ten Commandments. So I guess that colored and shaped his view of what fame entailed. Which leads me to wonder, why did he want that? But I think that he probably wanted something more, or something different -- the connection with the audience, the opportunity to share his gifts. And I guess, as he's admitted, the money. But who really knows? People are complex and mysterious. I'd love to know what was in his mind and heart when he wrote that song. But then that's true of a few others, too! #takeback LOL about 'maximum verbosity', Q3. It's one of my trademarks. Unless I don't say anything at all. ETA: NOT to start a discussion of the AMAs but Adam's uncharacteristic anger during that performance was, IMO, the main thing that distressed fans and upset other people. I know it's the thing that bothered me most -- even more than his uncharacteristically imperfect vocals. So my feelings about Pop Goes the Camera are similar -- it seems uncharacteristically cynical and therefore slightly unsettling (I'm a romantic, too). But obviously, whatever provoked those lyrics, another facet of Adam. There are plenty of interviews on Adam and the AMAS , You can See YouTube for his explanations. Hope you find what you are looking for. I just enjoy all facets of Adam... he is an intelligent multifaceted person.. No boxes..Puts out ideas for us to think about.

But obviously, whatever provoked those lyrics, another facet of Adam. You've got me wondering. Your perception is one I've held for awhile but could never express -- can't use my words like you do. Personally, I don't think Pop Goes The Camera is only about how Adam feels. It may be his perception of how fame is perceived by the industry in general. Freedom lost and replaced with money and paparazzi and devoted fans. It's the truth, without the fans, there is no money to be made. It's a cynical glimpse but putting yourself "out there" is a trade off. Entertainer's do "make bank" from our devotion. The infinity tattoo does express another side -- the ebb and flow of energy between Adam and the audience. Of course, he loves making money (his beloved jackets are expensive) but the biggest payoff is that he LOVES to entertain and feels very honored to be able to make a living doing just that. He's expressed that feeling since he was much younger. The "other performance" was angry -- he was pressured by alot of factors including the gay publication that ran the interview followed by comments from the editor. (Sorry, don't remember the names.) I think he was basically shouting to the rafters -- "Is this gay enough for you M.F.ers!" In one respect I was very proud of him to have the abandon to do just that. It thrilled me that it wasn't planned. On the other hand, YIKES! the Zodiac Show on National TV. This though is a side of Adam that I LOVE. He was pissed and he put it right out there. Sort of like the time his singing (?) teacher said he was upset and asked her if he could sing to her what he was feeling. Although he couldn't explain his pent up emotions in an interview, he certainly expressed them on stage! And, I'm getting a feeling that the "real" Adam, is the performer. I think if we are really wanting to know him, we're going to learn the most through his performances. That's why I tend to like the song renderings from his live performances better then the studio versions. He bares his soul when he feels the energy. j/s
