Q3 wrote: Read more: www.adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=1136#ixzz27MfycoamI don't think it is the case either, Q3, but your comment reminds me of something I thought about when I read the earlier pages of yesterday's thread. I've had trouble keeping up lately, but at some point in the last few days (?) there was a discussion pf Adam's pre-Idol song Pop Goes the Camera. I thought about posting at the time, but got sidetracked by RL and forgot about it. But when I saw the partial Fred Bronson interview that was posted yesterday morning, it reminded me. I like Pop Goes the Camera probably best of Adam's pre-Idol original songs, but it's always surprised me how cynical it is. Prescient, yes, but cynical. And particularly cynical about fans ("I'll make bank off their devotion"). And given Adam's lack of overt or obvious cynicism, that always surprised me a little. Like, what's that about, where did it come from, and why did he aspire to that? I don't have all those answers, lol, but Bronson's question to Adam on the subject of fame caused Adam to talk about his experiences hanging out with Val Kilmer during the run of the Ten Commandments. So I guess that colored and shaped his view of what fame entailed. Which leads me to wonder, why did he want that? But I think that he probably wanted something more, or something different -- the connection with the audience, the opportunity to share his gifts. And I guess, as he's admitted, the money. But who really knows? People are complex and mysterious. I'd love to know what was in his mind and heart when he wrote that song. But then that's true of a few others, too! #takeback LOL about 'maximum verbosity', Q3. It's one of my trademarks. Unless I don't say anything at all. ETA: NOT to start a discussion of the AMAs but Adam's uncharacteristic anger during that performance was, IMO, the main thing that distressed fans and upset other people. I know it's the thing that bothered me most -- even more than his uncharacteristically imperfect vocals. So my feelings about Pop Goes the Camera are similar -- it seems uncharacteristically cynical and therefore slightly unsettling (I'm a romantic, too). But obviously, whatever provoked those lyrics, another facet of Adam. You've got me wondering. Your perception is one I've held for awhile but could never express -- can't use my words like you do. Personally, I don't think Pop Goes The Camera is only about how Adam feels. It may be his perception of how fame is perceived by the industry in general. Freedom lost and replaced with money and paparazzi and devoted fans. It's the truth, without the fans, there is no money to be made. It's a cynical glimpse but putting yourself "out there" is a trade off. Entertainer's do "make bank" from our devotion. The infinity tattoo does express another side -- the ebb and flow of energy between Adam and the audience. Of course, he loves making money (his beloved jackets are expensive) but the biggest payoff is that he LOVES to entertain and feels very honored to be able to make a living doing just that. He's expressed that feeling since he was much younger. The "other performance" was angry -- he was pressured by alot of factors including the gay publication that ran the interview followed by comments from the editor. (Sorry, don't remember the names.) I think he was basically shouting to the rafters -- "Is this gay enough for you M.F.ers!" In one respect I was very proud of him to have the abandon to do just that. It thrilled me that it wasn't planned. On the other hand, YIKES! the Zodiac Show on National TV. This though is a side of Adam that I LOVE. He was pissed and he put it right out there. Sort of like the time his singing (?) teacher said he was upset and asked her if he could sing to her what he was feeling. Although he couldn't explain his pent up emotions in an interview, he certainly expressed them on stage! And, I'm getting a feeling that the "real" Adam, is the performer. I think if we are really wanting to know him, we're going to learn the most through his performances. That's why I tend to like the song renderings from his live performances better then the studio versions. He bares his soul when he feels the energy. j/s WOW great explanation.. I think you hit the nail on the head.. Adam expresses himself the most through his music..I'm so impressed with your Adam knowledge.

Pop Goes the Camera (also my favorite pre-Idol song) was written so many years ago. Adam was writing it from his observations of Hollywood and some of his successful friends' experiences. He was an observer. He didn't have the emotional connect to what these people were going through. Somewhere along the line, in 2011, I think Adam had a turn around about fans. Maybe I am making this all up, but sometime, somehow he has come to not only like his fans but embrace us. I have Glambert friends who would say to me (back in 2009 & 2010), "Why doesn't he ever thank his fans?" "Why doesn't he take the normal way out of Leno so he can see the fans?" Why this? Why that? I don't know what it was, maybe Sauli added balance to his life? Maybe he has just become more comfortable with his celebrity and has found ways to deal with it. I am having a hard time explaining this, but my main thought is this: I think Adam truly loves his fans now. If he ever had any cynicism, I believe it is gone.

QUOTE from this morning: "With all due respect to Adam and his co-writers, for me it is I keep runnin runnin runnin runnin – runnin runnin runnin runnin, runnin cause of my heart."
Q3"s and animated's double duty inspirations leave me amazed, happy, engaged, enamoured, "crushy", thoughtful....and...and....and...is there ever an end with Adam thoughts....
As it is mostly my heart versus my head that has me on this journey, this bears repeating....in "technicolor"
I keep runnin runnin runnin runnin – runnin runnin runnin runnin, runnin cause of my heart.
edit: thank you Q3 and animated...lovely feel in my heart to start my day

Darik Kristoferþ@DarikKristofer I care about @adamlambert, but SOME of his fans are too much. I can't say 1 thing or ask 1 question w/o being attacked. #Obnoxious

I think Adam has found ways to deal with his celebrities and fans over time. I think almost all fans have also learned there are some boundaries and they are not Adam's friends. I am really intrigued with Adam's relationship with fame and celebrity. He clearly enjoys his celebrity and seems to be impressed by other, bigger celebrities. I need to really think about it a bit one of these days.

Typical of the synchronicity that often happens here, it is interesting to have ksha518's comments regarding the cynicism evident in Pop Goes The Camera juxtaposed with the Glambert Project video. As far as PGTC goes, I suspect that fame and fans when looked at from the outside does have that cynical quality to it. After all the outside viewer does not see the heart of the fans when they casually observe the fan/star interaction, only the apparent one way street of fan devotion, especially if the star is aloof in public. Also fandom is often portrayed as fickle and that devotion can seem to disappear. When Adam wrote that song, he was still on the outside and watching the external trappings of fame. Plus, he has said that he himself has never been a Fan of anyone either in the entertainment industry or otherwise so his knowledge would be cursory on the true nature of that devotion. I think we are teaching him a lot.
Adam often acts surprised and just a little befuddled when asked about his fans as is evident in the Glambert Project video. His initial expectation of fame was probably more on the PGTC variety and he felt that the people who bought his music and came to his concerts would tire and move on to the next object of affection. That he was wrong about that started to dawn on him with the Idol tour concerts and reinforced by the success of the Glamnation Tour. Suddenly fans were not just a statistic but a real thing. He realized that he was loved and that carries a great deal of responsibility if you are a caring person which he obviously is. I think it surprised him too that the quality of love he receives is full-bodied, strong, and enduring and not the fleeting teeny-bopper variety. The Trespassing era has seen a maturation of the interaction between Adam and his fans; there is confidence and trust. It is a testament to the quality of love that he gives back that fans are willing to put themselves out there without fear of being slighted or made to feel marginal.
I think Adam has grown tremendously since his PGTC days. The Glambert interaction just makes me happy for all of us. We are lucky to have each other.

I agree that Adam loves his fans---probably because they have proven to be so loyal. But he is a smart guy, he must have also come to the realization that hanging on to them (all of them; even the ones that might cause a little face-palming) just makes financial sense in the world of declining music sales and short attention spans. At this time in the music climate you don't want to lose anybody. He put out a remarkable album, but it was his established fanbase that drove it to a 70K debut (I know I gifted and donated and did all kinds of stuff that I NEVER usually do for an artist) Adam knows this and appreciates it. I was a casual David Cook fan (I guess I still am, just lost interest) and he never got to point where he was comfortable enough with his AI fanbase to really embrace them. And I think, to an extent, he tried to shake some of them off. And I think he lost a lot of his fanbase as a result.

[/IMG]
OMG, drama. Have no idea what, but these PD's are way too sensitive. Look at Sirius and the DJ who raked Glamberts over the coals, because of a few, I said few tweets. Other fan bases are the same, but don't get called out. I just think theses PD's and DJ's can be quite inane.
