I see a few people taking what I said in a previous post in a different light, here is the original post:
From what I read from twitter conversation yesterday between Terra & Alidol, it's a lot of Bureaucracy to have him perform due to the Chinese law i.e. gay. Then Alidol mentioned about Jake & Scissor Sister's concert that was cancelled recently. Not sure if it's due to his sexuality or not. However if Adam has a concert in December, I think he will be the first western gay singer who have a concert in China. Maybe we can ask Maddie to confirm it with Alidol about this? 
It has very little or nothing to do with his sexuality. I said it in yesterday's thread that very few foreign acts or artists could really make a grand impression on the national scale in China, I forgot to point out one of the main reasons was because of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. This is why that Modonna has never had concerts in China, MJ wasn't banned but the chance never materialized. And, no Pop diva from today's music landscape has had concerts in China, many of their songs are on the "black list". Interestingly, Elton John has been very welcome in China. He'll have a concert in Shanghai in Nov. then Hong Kong, his last concert in China was 8 years ago. Maroon 5 just had their very first concert in China on Sept 25th, so our Adam won't be the first major American entertainer to have concerts in China, however, he'll be the first to perform on Chinese National TV, on the most popular program at that. There're other foreign acts before him though: Avril and Shakira, who have also appeared on Chinese TV before.

Does anyone know if there are any radio edits of cuckoo floating around out there or a way I can edit out the "fuck" in the song without purchasing software. If it helps, I'm on a Mac. My daughter (8) wants to listen to the album, but this is a bit much to for her to listen to at this age.
ETA: lol I just read the discussion above. At bit timely.. , eh?

I believe he wouldn't. This one word means bluring one's sexual identity because it isn't considered "moral" for radio. It isn't the same as bleeping the words "ass" or "fuck". But no one had heard the song yet. If he had done it during the recording procss, as Gaga had asked him about, it would be a simple rewrite from the writer, Gaga! lol I had heard the song sang by Gaga before I heard it sung by Adam. |

I think what you are seeing is fans whose favorite signer did not win. Just like what happens in the US on Idol. Perhaps so...but my question is about the Chinese tweets scrolling by.... are they also that negative and rude? Just curious.... I think Q3 has a good point there. You might want to use Google translator (very easy) for the tweets you are interested in. Just copy and paste there. |

I believe that "sun moon" means "day and night" in English but just made me smile!!

I don't think at that point he was aware of how difficult it would be with radio. I don't think he really realized the potential difficulties with radio until they were unable to get play with FYE and had to switch to WWFM and the AMA's put the nail in the coffin so to speak. I don't think Adam truly understood the difficulties with radio until it came to the point of actually promoting the songs so I'm not surprised that at the point of recording Fever he made that call and from that point changing it would have been backtracking. I think he made what concessions he was willing to make by promoting alternate interpretations of WWFM and IIHY but he was probably not willing to go so far as to change pronouns in Fever. It is easy to say in hindsight that it would have been an easy change to make but I think it was all about the fact that at the time of recording he thought that he could make that choice without repercussion but the reality was that radio was not ready to accept open expression of his sexuality. This is like a marathon...but I think it is just about over. lol I think they will announce the winner after commercials!
ETA: Now another performer. It sounds like he's really popular there by the applause.
