I find it so interesting that Gangnam by PSy, the Korean singer is going viral and being played on Top40 all over the world. If you listen to it is is Eurotechno from the 90's. Top40 wants something different and that's why songs that are different are making it. If we could get the radio PD's bias, Adam would make it cause he is so different, and so is the sound.If Adam can have a song that jumps onto iTunes into the top five for several weeks and a video that explodes and goes viral, he could have a hit like PSY. Gangnam style is #1or #2 on iTunes in over forty countries. There is more going on here than radio play. Have you listened to it. It's catchy...It has a Eurotechno sound from the early 90's. The point I was making is that peeple want purple, green, yellow, orange, blue...not pink bubble gum. I think Trespassing, Shady and Cuckoo provide the color. No track has ever gone viral like like "Gangman Style" -- ever. And, just like "We Are Young" and "Rollin' In The Deep", even P2's "Home", some songs are hits and then radio airplay makes them bigger. Trespassing does not have a single that broke out and sold massively yet. Adam is not doing well on streaming media that is unfiltered by programers like some alt artists have done. Adam needs to have support from radio, TV and events to get a hit from this album. The current US Top 20 songs have a lot of variety....Pink's "Blow Me" is certainly not bubblegum and is heading to #1 (currently #2). www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jNlIGDRkvQ (Already #1 on Adult Pop and HAC Radio airplay.) Sure there are songs that appeal to teens on the radio -- that is part of Top 40 stations' target audience but that is not the only kind of hit on the radio. |
