Adam is not an established recording artist. He needs the support and distribution power of a major label. We all make compromises with jobs and business. With a major label contract you get an advance against future royalties. You get to keep it even if there are no royalties. The label provides funds to support creating, recording and producing the album. The label produces and distributes the album. And the label promotes it. We can argue that RCA blew it by being too conservative but I have a different view.... The first RCA/Adam single was FYE -- not a conservative choice. They got him the closing spot on the AMAs. This was as high profile a launch as any new artist can imagine. The song got over 40 playlist adds, it just went nowhere. They they released WWFM and RCA called in favors coast to coast to get it airplay. 5 months later with help from people across the music industry including an Idol showcase they have never given to another alum, WWFM made the Top 10. RCA then released IIHY as a single and promoted it aggressively. It was a modest success. Now fast forward 2 years. They need to reintroduce Adam to the music buying public again. This time he does not have the fame of Idol to support a massive presale. They decide to go with a mid-tempo ballad in the style of WWFM as the lead single. It is by proven hitmakers. There is no way to undo it, now. But there is no certainty that a dance-pop lead single would have fared any better than FYE. Setting it all aside, I have faith in Trespassing (single) and I am looking forward. Agree with this post much more. Yup, I think that something along these lines has been going on. Just sad that they did not realize that both BTIKM and NCOE are not really in the same league as WWFM was and that alternatively, Trespassing would have never been as much a risk as FYE was, because the lyrics did not contain as much controversy or actually almost none. It would have been less risk to go with Trespassing than they thought, but obviously in hind-sight they now know that too. the real question NOW is what kind of support the 3rd single is getting... we already know that there is no MV UNLESS it is a hit... so another catch 22... do 3rd singles get TV show spots? Would DWTS be possible? any of the evening talk shows? p.s. btw - seeing advertisement for Biebs/Minaj thingy right under the TP lyrics video is driving me crazy... any advise? (I don't drink - so this option is out ;D)

Yes for sure.. my ass what an OTT awful word must be filtered.. Beyond ridiculous. If you can bare to listen to some hateful anti woman rap and listen to the derogatory things they say and Adam gets panned for my ass. Come on people, we know what it is!!!! It's still not accepted in main stream America to be GAY!!!!! That's the only reason for the double standard. >:( No, it is what HAC stations do for everyone's songs. They edit curse words, even words like ass. Pop and Hip Hop stations have different standards, as do stations in other country. HAC stations are not discriminating against Adam, they are treating him like every other artist when they censor certain words to appeal to the majority of their audience.

Then what was the problem with Fever as a single and all the he/she BS!!!

I know that the GAY is a big factor in the US. Overtly and subtly. But, recently I have been reexamining my expectations for Adam's career. We have talked many times about Adam being a black swan, and being an outlier. Why did I think that America would overwhelmingly embrace such a unique and strange creature? Heck, I can't even get members of my own, very musical family to do so.
I believe that Adam is too sophisticated an artist to fit easily into the pop music genre today. Even when he tries with songs like BTIKM and NCOE. Is it the voice? Too polished for pop? Too rangy? Too OTT? Passion fruit and coconut when America is used to hearing vanilla?
His image, even putting aside the GAY, is edgy, OTT, and quite different from other male pop stars. He is difficult to categorize: high fashion meets rock star, meets formal suit and tie, meets steam punk, meets glam. He is somehow dangerously sexy but also James Bond sophisticated. And almost never appears in the public eye looking or acting like the boy next door. You can't say, "He reminds me of _____" because he is unique.
His performance style that we are all enamored with is probably uncomfortably different for many. They want the WGWG singing the love songs they can easily sing along to without thinking or straining their voice.
Adam's sensibilities, instincts, and interests are not mainstream.
All in all, I think there are many people who "just don't get him." Maybe if they took the time to listen to interviews, watch a wide variety of performances, and read what others say about him, they would. But, it is a catch-22. They don't get him, so they are not interested, so they don't learn enough about him to become interested, so they can get him.
I love Adam precisely because of all the things that make him unique. I've never been someone who ever ordered vanilla ice cream or listened to the songs that everyone else was listening to, or read the book that everyone else was talking about, or watched the most popular reality TV shows (except when Adam was on). Why did I think that someone who was as special, unique and beautiful with the voice of an angel like Adam would be embraced by the masses? I am very grateful that Adam has achieved the success he has, so I can enjoy him as much as I do.

The plan is sensible -- release an EP that includes the single. That will generate more revenue than a radio edit single. It also has a chance of charting. There appears to be a misunderstand floating around the web -- Adam's management confirmed that fans should buy Trespassing Radio Edit vs. other singles. But they mostly want people to buy the EP. Need proof: If they wanted to sell the single, they would have put it for sale in Adam's official store. Instead, the are selling the EP.
