Tx, Q3. What time zone is it released in? Should I be buying right after midnight my local time? (EST in my case) WHAT AND WHEN TO BUY IN THE US AND CANADA Trespassing (Radio Edit) Track on iTunes any time after midnight your LOCAL time. Wherever your computer/phone physically is, is your local time. YOU MUST DOWNLOAD IT. DIGITAL EP - BUY IT ON AMAZON or AO.com any time after midnight your LOCAL time. YOU MUST DOWNLOAD IT. The Trespassing CD is get to have but will not help now. NOTE: iTunes runs in Pacific Time but it does not matter, BILLBOARD Soundscan is that time sensitive chart. The release is at midnight local time for Soundscan. BE PATIENT IN THE WEST. iTunes updates with a rolling update and that means that Trespassing may not be available until 1am or 2am Eastern. Amazon is often early. DO NOT BE FOOLED by them. So just buy the one Pharrell radio track and not the rest?

The "radio edit" is the "single". The others are just gravy.

I am buying all 4 of the actual Trespassing songs. I am gifting the radio edit. Do not buy the whole album at iTunes. Do that at AO or Amazon.

And I'll add please don't forget to come here when you do your buying! For i-tunes, midnight Eastern time. It's confusing to get conflicting info, but Q3 said midnight LOCAL time, not Eastern time.. :-/

What's important.. the time the person buys Trespassing or the time that it's downloaded? i.e. What if someone from the east coast gifts it to someone from the west coast.. does the west coast person have to wait until midnite west coast time or can the song be d/l right away even if before midnite?

For i-tunes, midnight Eastern time. It's confusing to get conflicting info, but Q3 said midnight LOCAL time, not Eastern time.. :-/ The different is Soundscan which provides the sales for the Billboard chart. You can buy when available on iTunes but Soundscan will only start counting sales after midnight local time on 10.16.12. Might as well wait to get the extra benefit. It is most important for the EP which could chart on the Billboard 200. Also the only reasons to buy all four Trespassing Tracks from iTunes is because they are added together as Trespassing song sales for the Soundscan chart. Totally defeats the purpose if fans buy it too early.

I am not sure what happens. I'll research. ETA: The situation above is rare so there is no exception for it. It would only cover East to West gifting in the first 5 hours of release. The sales are pre-orders until the release date. Then submitted to Soundscan when delivered after the release date. All other sales are discarded. The sale transaction listed above will be discarded unless Soundscan changes the rules.
