I wrote this in the dark thread, but since the discussion is taking place here I am going to venture into my question here: WHY will anyone expect the next project to be received by the US radio/TV better than the EXCELLENT, critically acclaimed TP? Which leads me to the "creative control" discussion: IMO RCA involvement is the ingredient that incapacitated the whole project, i.e. it is THEIR choice of the lead and the second singles that pretty much killed the album so far. BTIKM sorta kinda made sense as a transition from WWFM, but the NCOE abomination was inexcusable. I have a strong feeling that it was shoved down Adam's throat. - again that's just my feeling ... RCA should stay as far as possible from Adam's creativity, but I do understand it is their $s....hope they are smart next time around. I really hope that the release of TP is not too late to make an impression. Both, the song and the remixes, are superb and should resonate with kids in the US and EU. HAVE YOU MADE YOUR MORNING REQUESTS? Thank you so much for writing this. You've put my feelings into words perfectly . I know nothing about radio play so all I've been doing for weeks is seething inwardly at the sheer UNFAIRNESS of the way Adam is treated by this medium :twist: . To see it being said that Trespassing has been milked as much as possible makes me even more mad. So far, the general public has hardly heard any of Adam's own music; that's been edited out by RCA >:(.

My guess (since I know nothing) is that he will not be given as much creative control this time. I also don't believe he will have the luxury of time. They will want something out fall 2013, I have to think. I really think the May release, while good because it allowed for a #1 album, hurt things in the long run. Not as much creative control??! WUT?!! This album is excellent and has at least 4 great radio songs on it! It received critical raves from all but 3 reviewers! And the 2 that matter most, Billboard and Rolling Stone were all Glamberty about it! The problem with this album "taking off" has never been Adam! Lets hope the RCA suits are not given as much control this time on which songs to release as his first singles! If Cuckoo had been first, we'd be having a whole different conversation right now! ETA: Ha, ha! Should have just quoted nica's response and said "Ditto!" Another one talking my lingo. Thanks .

Adam said in that long ago interview with Lyndsey Parker that success will bring opportunities to experiment and take risks. Nobody should fault him if he and the label decide to go a more commercial route for the next album. If he can somehow establish himself with a few CHR hits, it will allow for a song like Trespassing or Shady to have a chance. Bruno released a very different, retro song and it is getting played because he has established himself. He could release Trespassing and have it get 50 adds on day one. Sometimes you have to play the game a little in order to give yourself those opportunities to expand and experiment in the future. Give up a little now to hopefully gain a lot down the road. Eta---cyndi's benefit should be a lot of fun, I would die for a duet (Sarah please!) Adam already went the safe route IMO with WWFM, IIHY, BTIKM and NCOE.... if those songs weren't able to establish him then I don't know what they will come up with next album to satisfy whatever faux guidelines they are holding Adam to (that they aren't holding others to). Him releasing bland pop music isn't the answer IMO. wwfm and iihy, both safe songs, succeeded on radio. What Adam needed was another "safe, bland" single to tide him over until he could release a second album when he first said he would: the spring/summer after the GNT tour. The difficulties he's experiencing now are not a result of how bland those songs were, but with his long disappearance after iihy. btikm was picked because of its similarity to wwfm, so the motive was safety. Unfortunately, the song was anything but safe: no hook, not a "typical" sound for radio. ncoe was a safe song, would probably have succeeded instead of btikm, but it appeared too late to help Adam on radio. The problem this era have been delays and more delays and the release of a weird lead single that they stuck with for far too long.

In January, Adam said in 2 interviews "the Bruno song would probably not be on the album." "It didn't fit." He was right! RCA held up the whole frickin album for that song! The 2nd song should have been one of Adam's songs, Trsp., Cuckoo, anything that represented the funkiness MJ/Queen/Adam vibe! BTIKM did well enough so that if the 2nd single had been better, it should have done well enough! Every time I listen to Trespassing I get into the mood of the first three songs really well and then get hit by the cold shower of NCOE. I love Adam's voice singing anything, but in the context of this album, it's pretty much the first track of his that I actually skip :-/.

I hope he will work with him on the new project. In the last year MM was responsible for: Katy Perry: Part of me & Wide Awake Taylor Swift: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Maroon 5': One More Night Christina Aguilera: Your Body Asher:Scream Nicky Minaj:Va Va Voom and the list is long.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Martin_production_discography

I believe that Trespassing is a great choice for now. - It may be a hit in Canada and then some US stations will follow. No, it will not be a rocket to the top because RCA/Adam will not spend $1 million promoting Trespassing to US Radio. I think it has a real shot -- it is just going to take time and a lot of work by fans. - Even if Trespassing is not a radio hit, it helps RCA/Adam maximizing incremental sales from Trespassing (album). The Trespassing EP and single lets them focus on fans and concert goers AND reintroduce Trespassing prior to Holiday buying. So it is a win with our without US radio. I've been subterranean for a while now so I may have missed this point. Has anything further been said about the UK, which after Queenbert (paraphrasing Shosh) was going to get a return trip pretty soon; and the holding off buying TP, the single until told, as if some promo was in the works? All fizzled out do we think; do we know what happened ???. Regardless, I don't angst for Adam any more. I think too many people (fans and business) have his interests at heart and he's just too talented. I mean can you imagine AFL slipping quietly into obscurity ETA: Adam's not shimmying like he's supposed to but YKWIM :-/.

And since I really wasn't singing words I figured it must have been Trespassing but nope, I listened harder to myself and it was NCOE. go figure. ;D

I don't wanna sound angsty , but I just can't believe that Trespassing is over . A superior album , in many ways , .........I mean , how can they just move on ? It has SO many great songs !! I don't understand this . I don't know who to blame . RCA , maybe ? I mean , who the fuck picked the "safe" songs to be singles ? I'm sure it's not Adam's fault . He would have released one of HIS co-written songs as a first single , and another of HIS co-written songs for the second single . And RCA or DMG , or whatever it is , they want to move on and work on a third album , because this one failed , ALL BECAUSE OF TWO *FLOP* SINGLES *THE MANAGEMENT* PICKED ?? It's THEIR fucking fault . Adam worked SO HARD for this album , and that's what hurts me the most . I feel like crying . WE'VE waited SO LONG for this motherfucking album . So now , is everything over ?? What do we do now ??
