6pm start of the worst of it. Just heard glass breaking somewhere. Internet is still working. \o/ Holy schise that is wind power. Psyched they have a generator here. TV man now saying could be gusts up to 80-90 mph. What? Lights now blinking. The internet WILL remain up so I can watch the show tonight.

ASPCA @aspca
NYC ALERT: ALL evacuation shelters are pet friendly - don't leave your pets behind! ow.ly/eRsNl #SANDY #sandypets Retweeted by Cheeks Hmmm..... Just realized that, in case something happens and we need to evacuate, I have absolutely no idea where the cats' ID tags are. They don't normally wear their collars. Well, they're both microchipped (ID chips don't ever "go bad", do they?), and I'm pretty sure there's a tape label on the carrier. Hopefully this is a needless worry... That said, I think I'm gonna look up the vet's phone# and stick it in my directory... :-/

You don't happen to remember the famous - "there will not be a hurricane" with Michael Fish back in 87 do you. I was working at Fords in Essex then and people were totally unprepared. If was just a cat1 if I remember and it went though quickly one night. Trucks on their side on the M25. One colleague woke up to a tree branch in his BED!

cable just went out...water seeping in in one of the rooms... fun is starting Water from where? Sea water? River water? Rain water? Are you in danger of severe flooding? Oh, no! cable is back...rain water is getting in one of the rooms thru an A/C vent - it is a exterior wall problem that my building will have to fix... I am on the 33rd floor, so flooding is not something that should be happening... anyway, compared to others -this is truly nothing... wind sounds a bit quieter now...

Since Sandy is hitting land in NJ, NYC will receive peripheral bands as opposed the center chaos. According to twc, NYC will be spared the worst. The eye is going thru NJ and will head up thru central NY. I have family in Syracuse and Buffalo. As the storm heads inland, hopefully it will subside to a tropical storm, but there is a pesky cold front that could cause it to linger and NY state get snow and rain together.

Hoppers -- you could always stick paper sticky return address labels on the cats if you can't find the collars!
Everybody stay warm and safe!
