You don't happen to remember the famous - "there will not be a hurricane" with Michael Fish back in 87 do you. I was working at Fords in Essex then and people were totally unprepared. If was just a cat1 if I remember and it went though quickly one night. Trucks on their side on the M25. One colleague woke up to a tree branch in his BED! How strange . I was there too then; that is if you mean Dunton? But yes, I do remember it, the most famous red face of all weather forecasts; people still make jokes about it now ;D. But I didn't get involved in that storm 8-) and normally our weather is the most placid in the country .

Best wishes to everyone in the storm's path. Stay safe!
Is someone compiling a list so we will know when everyone has checked back in? It's going to be nerve wracking waiting for news with power out for many for a week and being worried about everyone.

************* Other than that little opinion, I just wanted to let everyone on the East Coast know that I will be praying for you all. I hope you are able to stay safe, and get enough supplies to make it through the storm. I was raised in Houston, and have lived with hurricanes all my life. We are used to having "hurricane" supplies, and being prepaired. During Alicia (I think) in the late 80's (I think) power was out in some areas for 3 weeks. It wasn't cold, but it was hot, all the food spoiled, there was no drinking water, people were bathing in swimming pools, it was a real mess. Please check in with us when you can to let us know you are safe. I have made a lot of good friends on this board, and need to know that you are all OK. Hugs to all. « Last Edit: Yesterday at 4:05pm by mahailia » Read more: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=1178&page=12#ixzz2AjigPF5oI posted this yesterday, but it doesn't hurt to say it again. Hope everyone will be safe, and the power won't be out too long. Hang in there, hardies! Love to all.
