Well I am thankful that it looks like we have been spared the worst of this in our little area of SE MA between Boston and Providence unless something else happens. Power flickered but hung in there and I was able to watch Texas Tango stream. Some strong wind and rain but not nearly as bad as expected. I think there may be a small tree down in the back yard but can't tell for sure in the dark. Thinking about those still dealing with the worst of this storm. Have a safe and peaceful night.

Hope everyone is okay and have not suffered too much damage. Looks like NYC is a mess and wonder how long before the city is back to functional!! Atlantic City will take a lot of fixing, too.

Just want to remind you that if you get moisture in your house, it is important to dehydrate it quickly. It takes only about 3 days and the mold will begin to grow up. And once you have mold you can remove it only by removing the contaminated materials. No chemicals whatsoever will be useful.

Sandy update (from Weather Nerd):
The water level was above 10 feet — the approximate threshold for major NYC flooding — for more than 5 consecutive hours. The results, of course, were devastating. Neighborhoods submerged; cars floating in the streets; the subway system flooded; a major hospital forced to evacuate; raging fires all over the city, with limited ability to fight them; and on and on. And it’s not over yet.
... the Big Apple’s troubles overshadowed the equally calamitous impact that Sandy had along the New Jersey shore, where places like Atlantic City and Ocean City were hugely devastated by the surge. Long Island and Connecticut was also very hard-hit. We’ll learn more about the extent of damage in the coming days, but it’s clear this storm was very much the monster we feared, and that its impact was widely felt.
That will probably be it for @brendanloy; he is a unique blogger who blogs only during hurricanes. And beats the news outlets for accuracy and completeness every time. The assessment of damage and the storms aftermath as we go forth can be handled by the traditional news outlets. I love him!
