I can't believe I am defending Gokey, but... I think his comment was a heartfelt response to the tragedy. He probably truly believes that mention of God in schools and school prayer would bring children closer to the Deity that he holds to be all important to this world. And perhaps provide some measure of protection? Whether I hold the same beliefs, I respect that he is processing this tragedy as best he can, as we all are. Totally agree.

I think Michael Sarver is a good guy! ITA. There was an interview during the Idol Tour and the interviewer asked who had influenced them the most on AI8 and Michael said it was Adam who changed the way he looks at those different from him, I don't remember the exact words, but he really impressed me. Just getting to know Adam changed his view of gay people, at least he had an open mind and learned something from Adam, which is more than I can say for DG. Also, not that it matters, but Michael is from my area in Texas, so it went a long way if you know about attitudes in Texas, especially men in Texas towards the LGBT community.

J/S Exactly. He's implying that those of us who don't believe that religion has a place in schools are responsible for tragedies like this.

Danny Gokey@dannygokey I think its time we reinstate God & Prayer back into our schools and in our country. : Yeah, religion always helps. The Taliban allows religion and prayer in schools, but they shoot girls who try to get in.
What Gokey said is what Mike Huckabee just said, and I sent out a tweet that said, "Mike Huckabee proves himself to be a moron once again. The history of religion is soaked in blood." Thirteen people have retweeted it so far, which is the most retweets I've ever had.
Neil agrees with me:
Neil â€@negativeneil yes yes, .@dannygokey no one has ever killed in the name of God you fucking moron.
;D ;D ;D ;D I bet Neils has been waiting for years to get a chance to call Danny's name publicly :4OMG:

And perhaps provide some measure of protection? Whether I hold the same beliefs, I respect that he is processing this tragedy as best he can, as we all are. First, of all, if that is what he is suggesting, it is unconstitutional. We are supposed to have a separation of church and state in this country. Second, a lot of people were murdered today, and suggesting that prayer in schools will prevent that from happening again is ridiculous. It simply masks the larger problem of violence (including easy access to guns) that has gone on for years in this country. For my part, I would like some rational discourse on how to prevent violence, instead of people suggesting that prayer will somehow solve our problems. It never has. We are one of the most religious of the industrialized nations and also one of the most violent. Sorry, I'm not annoyed by your post, but by the attitude of the Gokeys of the world.

www.accesshollywood.com/adam-lambert-talks-vh1-divas-people-arent-ready-for-this-party_article_73900Adam Lambert is gearing up to host “VH1 Divas” this Sunday and he told Access Hollywood that fans should expect the unexpected. “I just feel like people aren’t ready for this party. I don’t think anyone’s going to be ready for it,” he told Access earlier this week in an exclusive interview to promote the VH1 special. “It’s going to hit them like a ton of bricks across the face and people are going to walk away from watching this thing like, ‘That was the best party of the entire year. I feel it. Yeah!’” Aside from the celebrities set to perform at the show, like fellow “American Idol” alum Kelly Clarkson, “The X Factor’s” Demi Lovato, Keri Hilson and Bootsy Collins, non-singers like NeNe Leakes are also a part of the festivities. “We’re opening the show this year with this kind of comedy sketch, mocumentary style [chronology, looking at] my journey to becoming a true diva. And in the sketch, NeNe comes in and she’s like the diva coach,” Adam explained. “She’s giving me my swag… I predict it’s going to be a lot of laughter and we’re probably going to have to pull it together for these takes so that we can seem serious, but I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun.” Adam will perform a Madonna song at the event, but he refused to reveal which one. “You have to tune in,” he said. “It’s a surprise! That’s all I can say.” “VH1 Divas” airs Sunday, December 16 at 9/8c on the network. [/IMG]
OMG.. Adam's going to pull all his creativity and crazy and amazing ideas for this show.

I think this is the real problem of the US regarding shootings: Not lack of religion, or prayers, or whatever. "Criminals have guns, so I have to have a gun to defend myself." I hope I don't offend anyone (this is just my opinion), but that's completely bullshit. Most criminals wouldn't have guns if they couldn't buy them so easily. Honestly, I have little patience regarding the US policy on guns.
