100% agree with you, albiku! Adam would not use the word ni**er because it is not part of his community. The word cunt and cunty is part of his community, as is Sutan. There is really NO parallel in comparing the 2 words and how they would be used by Adam! Hey, look at this! "Cocky came from cock and cunty came from cunt!" A word generally associated and used in gay society. It means an overwhelming feeling of self-conceit or cockiness. Associated with many feelings, usually of being a bitch, cocky, conceited, arrogant, obnoxious and the list goes on. Cunty The female version of cocky. I rest my case...it is the female version. Adam is not a female. If the word carries no gender meaning, then why use it...stick to cocky. I have no problem with that...I don't have one of those.... That's not what "female version" means. It is not the user being described in that definition. I'm sure you realize that. Have you never used the word "cocky" before? I have, lots of times!! "Can't stand Justin Beiber! He is so damn cocky!!"

OK, why is it a disparaging word? Fuck used to be too but now everyone says it. Why is cunt bad but Va Jay Jay is not! Sorry, but a word is just a word and the intent behind words is what makes them bad. We all know how Adam and some of his friends use it. Do you think he was dissing Sutan when he use it or saying he thought the vid was awesome? If Adam using one word makes someone not a fan, especially when he has actually explained his use in the past....... IDGI!! [/IMG]
myspenser- I really hate if he took it down because the self-righteous, holier-than-thou word police beat him over the head with it and caused him to take it down. That is so wrong. :-/ ETA- Just read he didn't take it down. Hope he didn't.
I just typed up a wordy post saying pretty much the same thing, but yours is much more succinct. So, I'll just say "yeah, what she said!"

So I have an idea. Adam should keep his mouth shut for the rest of his natural life and then no one could possibly be offended anymore by his words. Of course, some could say that they are reading his thoughts and they are offensive. : *sigh*

And how anyone can think Adam would ever be a woman "hater" is beyond me! His best friends are women: Danielle, Alisan, Scarlett, his mom!! Exactly! And Adam LOVES his GIRLS, especially his Mom and Danielle. Do not understand why suddenly he becomes "women hater". Where that comes from? :dunno:

In gay slang the term is used to describe something or someone being extremely original, impressive, or fantastic in regard to style (fashion or music) or demeanor. Both "cunt" and "cunty" are used interchangeably, often in adjective form. Originating in Ball culture, the term was popularized by the song "Cunty (The Feeling)" by drag performer Kevin Aviance. THIS. So the word IS part of his community. He's entitled to use it if he so choses.

Your friend sounds pretty unevolved herself. Sorry, but it's pretty fucking ignorant to lump an entire community into a group based on one individual's comment that offends you. In fact, I'd say that her entire statement reeks of ignorance not to mention just being laughable. Didn't he go to great lengths a couple of years ago to explain this word in the gay culture. He was flabbergasted that so many thought it was so wrong. And, we know he doesn't use that word in a mean spirited way towards woman. He was talking to his gay friend. I have the mouth of a sailor and I don't use that word. BUT, that's my culture. Remember the peace sign he flashed? Holding your hand one way meant one thing way different then palm out. Poor guy -- he meant it in a light-hearted way to his very close friend. In this case, for me, sticks and stones.

You know what? I am going to risk being modded or banned and say this:
After 4 years of seeing his generosity, his gentle hippie spirit, his heart & soul..... if his use of one word affects you that much ...... a word that he explained in the past & how it is used in the his gay community, (a word that he will undoubtedly use again) can affect all the other things you know about him, if that one word makes you want to stop being a fan, then maybe it is time for you to do just that.

Please let us try to refrain from ad hominum name calling....there is no need to resort to that....it is fair to disagree and make you claims and reasons but not to call people who disagree with you "self-righteous, holier-than-thou word police". It is a free world for all of us...him to say what he wants, and others to be offended..if they are. I don't see anybody here demanding that he remove it...
I did not see anyone use the term "woman hater" so please be fair.

Are folks who are offended by Adam's using the word "cunt" also offended by "bitch," as in "Dance, bitches!"?
The content of the argument against the one seems to me like it would apply to the other or I could be missing something.
I prefer "uncensored" Adam because I am interested in him and his choices. I do not feel he is putting me or women in general down. I think "bitch" and evidently "cunty" are similar to "fierce" and even the idea of being "diva-ish." I might also be completely wrong.
On a perhaps related note, I saw a tweet that I think was intended as a put down of Adam and Miley (that Miley was more masculine than Adam last nite.). And it occurred to me that both of their responses to that might be, " thanks, that's what I was going for." I knew the tweeter meant disrespect but I have seen Adam disarm those kind of criticisms before by choosing to overlook the dis and act like something is neutral or even a compliment.
it is like the fur thing for me, in a way. I get the fur argument. But if Adam does not see it the way I do, I don't want him to pretend he does just to prevent waves. Maybe Brian May's influence will impact Adam or not. Maybe fans' reactions to "cunt" will impact him or . . . Maybe he will just be a bit less "real" on twitter and in interviews.
