Saturday - Raisins
I put them in my cereal, hot or cold. Add them to salads and eat them plain. They are concentrated calories so if you are trying to fill up eat grapes, but if you want a little that goes a long way eat raisins.

Sunday - Arm Circles
How many ways can you circle your arms? There are the circles in front with palms out kind of like wax on, wax off. There are alternating circles on the side like swimming. There is leaning over and pretending to be a dough mixer.
As we age we forget to make big movements and our shoulder joint is one of the areas we just don't think about. The dough mixer circle version (on a relaxed, just letting it hang setting) is often prescribed to help those who have frozen shoulder symptoms. Keep your shoulder unfrozen by keeping it moving.

Monday - GingerThere are actually quite a few sites and maybe a few studies promoting ginger as being helpful for weight loss. I can't testify to that but I can testify that these ginger flavored candies (see pic) are 100% effective for me and my family in controlling motion sickness. I get motion sickness fairly easily in the passenger side of a car if I read on road trips so I was concerned on our one and only cruise (big ship, 1000 passengers) which had very rough rolling seas coming back against the current from Baja California. They closed the pools and the sales people in the shops said they had never seen it so bad. I had bought some of these on the recommendation of our local health food store. Good thing, as we and a handful of others were the only people still capable of dining. The serving size on these say 2 chews. We got by with 1/2 chew each every couple of hours. I had to use them last year in a very old RV we drove around in. Shake rattle and roll, at least we could stop now and then. And I'm not saying they were the cure but I did convince my mother to take one after a major operation that had kept her in the hospital for several days too long afterwards because she wasn't able to keep her food down. One of these and the jello stayed where it was supposed to.... in her stomach.

OMG, Chapf, you are so clever with the smilies. Hope your eye is getting better.
You're sure seeing and hearing a lot about raspberry ketones these days, and before that green coffee bean extracts, even on the Dr. Oz show. I'm not really planning on using any of that, but has anyone here done so? You read a lot of mixed results it seems, and basically I don't think there are any shortcuts to losing weight. You've got to put in the effort.

My juicing always has a knob of ginger in it for that extra kick. I even make my own un-crystallized preserved ginger (not really sweet) which I use in baking as well as for snacks. The ginger I preserve is at the (early) pink-petal stage .. very soft and not as pungent - here's a picture of my latest batch : Raw ginger at "pink petal stage" CLEANED AND COOKING IN LIGHT SYRUP once cooked, the ginger pieces are dried for future use - an extra bonus is the cooking juice .. added to soda with a bit of fresh mint, it becomes a refreshing drink. I use the later-harvested, more mature hard skinned ginger chopped in stirfries, stews, teas etc.....
As for the benefits of ginger ... you just need to google to see all the health claims .. however, I know from experience (like you) that it does combat motion sickness ... and in a "tea" it can act as a mild throat/nose decongestant.
