Wednesday - Check in Day
Time got away from me this week too. I didn't stick to my diet very well this week. I'm exercising good however so good news bad news. One of those fluctuation days where I'm higher than I want to be but still less than what I used to me.

Found an interesting weight loss book free online called "The Hackers Diet" www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/It is free and was an interesting read if only for the writing style and mental approach. The writer is an engineer/computer software guy (developed Autocad), very successful and finally decided to approach weight loss as you would a problem to be solved both from the perspective of an engineer and that of a business person. Nicest thing is that he has online tools you can sign up and access the main one of interest being a log to take daily weight readings and plot your actual weight loss trend so that you can see just how irrelevant all those daily ups and downs in your weight readings are. I entered all the data I had since February and ended up with this chart. The light gray line is plotted from my actual weight readings and the red line is the weighted or smoothed average which gives you a truer picture of my progress. So if weight fluctuations drive you crazy look for something like this to help you see the real trend. Oh by the way in the book he tells you how to figure your trend with just pencil and paper so you can do it yourself if you don't want to use his log. But I think there are also apps available that do the same type of calculation. Just thought that this is a really good visual look at why stressing out over particular day's reading is useless. Very cool Rihannsu, and yes, definitely more encouraging, if you weigh yourself every day to see that overall trend. I weighed myself this morning, then went for a walk, and weighed myself again. Just for interest's sake. And was actually up .2 lbs after the walk, so that's really showing how it can fluctuate too. Had a good week this week, down 2.6 lbs. So I had some left over crepes for lunch instead of my usual yoghurt and fruit as a little extra reward. I LIKE yoghurt and fruit so it's no hardship to have that for lunch, but a break from it a few times a week is also nice. So why the heck is the BOLD not working for me lately I wonder? Stardust, great week for you! Chapf, thanks so much for continuing to be our cheerleader! Hope everyone is continuing to hang in there and don't beat yourself up if this week was not the best result. I was up last week and then had a nice loss this week, so carry on with your plan!

I had a split personality this week. I ate up all my veggies -- made nice salads, zucchini bread, stuffed squash, mixed veggies in the crockpot, and more. And I ate a lot of other, not so healthy stuff too! Oh well. Right now I am planning a big lifestyle change regarding my work and anything that gets me through the next couple of weeks takes priority! The most interesting veggie I ate was a pattypan squash. It looks like a UFO: And tastes like a regular squash -- easy to prepare. I got in good steady exercise every day. It is not fun to exert myself too much right now because it's so hot -- about 100 degrees each day. I give myself credit for plugging away at it. I had no nerve pain and was able to use the 1 lb. weights again this week.

I was up .2 from last Wednesday but just coming off TOM so this week was a wild roller coaster of weight readings.
On our walk this morning Wendy and I saw a Hawk in a tree and she was pointing at it asking me if I thought it was a real bird and then it moved its head. The lady whose house we were in front off was just coming out to her car and saw us looking at the bird and told us that it was a female with two babies in the nest. We got to talking and found out she teaches ASL then she noticed Wendy's fitbit and asked if that's what it was. We ended up exchanging phone numbers and she may start walking with us. Interesting encounter.

Awwww, chappy, that's so cute!!! Weighed in and I'm down .6 lbs this week. Not too bad since I was a bit out of control a lot of the week. The weather is scorching here and I don't even want to go outside. Think I will look up some of those pretty much ignored exercise tapes. Got to be better than nothing!!! (I pray it will cool down before San Diego!!! )

Ha, I didn't think I had any before pictures and was kind of regretting not having taken one but my work out buddy had one. Wendy manages the Storage place where the grooming van is parked and last Sept they organized a garage sale at the facility. She went around taking pictures and I had completely forgotten about it. The other day I was in the office and noticed they had a slide show running on a monitor there with some pics from the garage sale and suddenly there I was in all my pasty white pudgy glory. I had her send me a copy and I plan on getting her to take a follow up pic at the end of this month. For now I am going to try to post it here. Not sure if I can manage it, but here goes. Ok, I see it in the reply box so hopefully it will show up when I hit post. LOL Quoting my own post so you can see both pictures. Here is my picture from today. Tried to get as close as possible to the pose in the first picture. So first picture was 9/29/2012 second one is today, nine months between the two shots.
