jablea, hope you are having a great vacation!
Well, you guys, today I took the biggest step I've taken in quite some time. I have been working on a whole bunch of planning to start my own freelance practice -- writing, editing, and research. I have done this kind of work before but not since the '90s. But today I gave notice; my last day on the job is August 9. Whew! I am a wet noodle. I am scared but excited about my plans. Life's too short to spend my days frustrated and underutilized, with the goal only to earn a state pension in the distant future. I look forward to getting out and about and meeting new people doing neat things that I can be a part of.
Anyway! fiercelier asked about how we exercise in the brutal heat down here. I don't know about rihannsu, but I find that I have to change my habits quite a bit in the summer. On the weekends, I walk early before the sun is up. During the week, if I walk in the evening I wait until the sun is down and then go a shorter route (as we have gotten to the time of year when it is still in the 90s even at bedtime). I can't walk as vigorously, either ... it's more of an amble LOL. I still go to aerobics usually twice a week, and I am swimming as often as I can. And you have to drink a lot of water or you will feel sick. Drinking water is the single biggest change I have made over the last five years as far as my habits and it has made a big difference.
Nothing exciting to report on the veggie front. It's hot. It's hard to want to cook because it heats up the kitchen. Made some good squash in the crockpot; everyone loved it.

Hope you're having a wonderful vacation Jablea!
Thanks for answering my question Juniemoon. Even here, where it doesn't get nearly as hot as in Texas, I only walk when I can walk early in the morning, been going around 7 am. I'm not usually able to walk in the evening as I've got other things to do, so that makes the walking sporadic this time of year. I'm trying to drink more water as well.
And a big congratulations on your major job change! It sounds very exciting! You'll work much harder but you'll also get a lot more satisfaction out of it. I'm self-employed, and while it doesn't provide a full time living in the area that I live in, and the manual part is sometimes tough, I do love it. Just started my 20th year. So I wish you nothing but the best and full speed ahead!
Not a good week in the weight loss department as I actually gained .8 lbs. While I had not anticipated a big weight loss, there were a few things happening, I certainly hadn't anticipated a weight gain. Will have to be more careful this coming week.
I also had the cortisone injection in my ankle today. Was at the hospital for almost 2 hours. They couldn't reach the right spot from one side so had to redo it from the other side and finally did get to the right spot. So far no problem, but as I hate needles it was not something I looked forward to. Hope it does the trick and fixes the inflammation in the tendon and I'll finally be rid of the ongoing ankle pain. Here' hoping!
Hope everyone was more successful in the weight loss department this week! Having salad tonight and we had a ton of fresh raspberries from the garden last night. Yum!

Completely forgot this was Wednesday, ok well what do you know I weighed exactly the same today as last Wednesday.
fiercelier - .8 pounds is a minor fluctuation not a weight gain. Remember fluctuations of as much as 8 pounds can happen just from water weight which is caused by things like stress of which I would say you had a bit. Don't let those little bounces up and down psyche you out. In the past 10 days I have been as high as 154 and as low as 151.2 with bounces up and down including a jump of about 3 lbs in one day but my trending weight has dropped from about 153.3 to 152.5 for a weekly loss rate of .91 lbs. I would take it as a victory to have had that small a gain considering the stress you had.

It is a bit discouraging but I am taking the long range approach, and it does remind me that I have to be careful when I splurge that I can't do too much of it at this stage!

Onward!!!!! :D Do you have a fitbit or something like it? I wear my fitbit 24/7 (except to shower) and it really does inspire me to move more. I park further away in parking lots because I get the satisfaction of watching more steps add up on the routine trips to the store and such and I make extra trips up and down the stairs at home because I know it racks up more steps and floors. I've really been surprised at just how much difference it has made in my attitude towards being active.

Monday - Black Rice
According to my Costco Connection, Black rice may have more antioixidants than blueberries and it's the new go to rice. I guess I'll have to look for it but I'm lost cooking rice if it's not Rice oRoni lol.
Thanks Chappy for setting up Wednesday's reminder and everyone's wishes on a good vacation. So good we cut it a day short heh! 1400 miles in 7 days, 6 nights of waterfalls, volcanoes, and beaches along the Oregon coast. I did workout with quite a bit of climbing around.
