I caught a lot of flak from Atop members when I suggested Adam should not include certain words in his songs if he is interested in Grammy noms, radio play, and no censuring of his performances. In these Vietnamese performances, and I haven't had a chance to view all, I've heard "aah" substituted for ass and " damn" substituted for f--k. JS He certainly is making an impact both stateside and internationally. Wonder if he got wind of juniemoon's comment about Melvin.  |

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't think the presence of a boyfriend has anything to do with the quality of Adam's performances. Adam is a showman and a consummate performer. I think he is more inspired by the particular situation and the reaction of the audience than the presence of loved ones in the audience. I think the most profound recent impact on Adam as a performer was the mini-tour with Queen. We probably can't fully appreciate the enormity of the challenge and responsibility that those concerts represented to Adam. The fact that he pulled off those performances so brilliantly has probably significantly increased his confidence as a performer (in fact I think he did say this in a recent interview, but I can't remember which one). As Adam's professional experience widens, he just keeps getting better and better -- and his joy in perforning is so obvious that it makes me smile. One of the reasons why he is one of my favorites. ITA!! And to the post about explicit lyrics...... the answers that were given before are still the same. Look at the top albums right now..... Maroon 5, Rihanna, Pink, Frank Ocean..... many more, all getting radio play and Grammy noms, all very popular.... all with explicit lyrics. As for Adam and his sound problems, it has been mentioned many times that he would be much harder to do sound for than most other singers because of his range and power and the fact that he is such a perfectionist. Also the movement of his jaw while hitting those notes tends to dislodge his earpieces. |
