All I know is that every Idol that is with RCA is also with 19R. If Adam got to split away, like this, he will be the first. This sounds a bit alarming to me - says the worrywort. :-/ Q3 - what does this mean? ???

Based on www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lambert-19-recordings-part-411719 , Adam is no longer with 19R but remains under contract as a RCA artist, and btw, he left 19M last Aug and has been with DMG since then. A couple of key notes from the article:
>> According to sources, January marked the expiration for that contract(with 19R), although he is still on the roster at RCA Records. “It’s good for both sides,” says an insider. “Adam can move forward with his plans and 19 isn’t stuck in the middle.”
Although Lambert saw little radio play in the U.S. for his latest offering, Trespassing, his success overseas has cemented his status as an international artist. Aside from appearances at massive events like the MNet Asian Music Awards and The Voice China, the latter of which was watched by some 500 million people, he played with Queen, hosted December's VH1 Divas 2012 special and there are plans for Lambert to tour Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe in 2013.
As for his third album, conversations with the label about direction have already begun, says DMG.[/b] << [/size]

It means if his contracct with 19R ended in Jan., then his contract with RCA would have also ended. DMG would have to renegotiate a new contract. They could go with RCA again or choose a different label. It would not surprise me at all to see another announcement the beginning of next week. geezelouise, 19R makes no decisions about singles released. They just sit back & collect a large % of the profits.

I don't think they were picked back up by anyone. It was like the beginning of the end for most of them. :( That is why this announcement strikes fear into my heart. I've seen it happen to too many other Idol alumni. :-/

As mys*&@^#r pointed out, the only thing that 19R does, or used to, is collecting their % of profits, RCA is the one that gets to make all the decisions when it comes to the actual business related to Adam's music.
19 is now no longer "stuck in the middle" between Adam's plans and his label & his management, that's how I interpreted it.

In the article, it clearly stated that Adam left 19R, NOT his label RCA! Those are absolutely two different business entities. "As for his third album, conversations with the label about direction have already begun, says DMG." (quotes from the article) So, please don't worry! Even IF the said label wasn't RCA, I'm sure it'd be with one of the "big three", can I dare hope for "Interscope"??
ETA: NVM my little wish, he's still with RCA. Read the article again, clearly says "still on the roster with RCA Records". Oh, well....

If by any chanc he is not with RCA anyore, I am confident that DMG has a label in place. As a a matter of fact, they said they did. They called it "the label." If he is still with RCA, then I would say it is becaus he wants to be and he and DMG negotiated a new contract with them. No worrries!
