Adam Lambert addresses bullying issue: 'More should be done to help kids cope'

Vocal sensation and former 'American Idol' runner up Adam Lambert has called for more to be done both to prevent bullying and to help young people to deal with it.

Writing on his official Twitter page earlier today (January 11), the 'Trespassing' hitmaker explained that action needs to be taken:

"Bullying sucks. It's true. I feel like we should focus more on helping kids cope and build a thick skin rather than focusing on the bullies?"

This tweet comes just a day after modern pop icon Lady Gaga wrote an 'open letter' to Kelly Osbourne, criticising her for dishing out the kind of negativity and verbal abuse she used to receive before she slimmed down.

Although Osbourne hasn't responded to the situation, her mother Sharon publicly replied this morning and defender her daughter, calling Gaga the bully for encouraging her 32 million Twitter followers to think badly of her.

The "American Idol" season eight runner-up gets ready to take the next step in his "evolution" as an artist.

Adam Lambert and 19 Recordings have parted ways, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Although the American Idol season eight runner-up had split with 19 Management in August 2011, he remained signed to the recording arm of 19 Entertainment (now owned by CORE Media Group) for another 18 months.

According to sources, January marked the expiration for that contract, although he is still on the roster at RCA Records. “It’s good for both sides,” says an insider. “Adam can move forward with his plans and 19 isn’t stuck in the middle.”

A rep for Lambert says the two parties leave “amicably and with the utmost respect for each other,” adding that the decision is but one part of the singer’s “evolution,” which began when he joined Direct Management Group, home to Katy Perry among other clients.

Since first signing to 19 in 2009, when he advanced to the finals on Idol, the company has seen profits from Lambert's six RCA Records releases, which include two studio albums as well as collections of live recordings and remixes, along with merchandising revenue and other ancillary products.

Although Lambert saw little radio play in the U.S. for his latest offering, Trespassing (which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart), his success overseas has cemented his status as an international artist. Aside from appearances at massive events like the MNet Asian Music Awards and The Voice China, the latter of which was watched by some 500 million people, he played with Queen, hosted December's VH1 Divas 2012 special and there are plans for Lambert to tour Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe in 2013.

As for his third album, conversations with the label about direction have already begun.

19 Entertainment still represents a slew of Idol alums, including season 10's James Durbin, Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart and season 11's Colton Dixon, Jessica Sanchez and winner Phillip Phillips, among others.

What does Adam contract with 19R mean?[/color]
1.12.13 by Q3

Part of the contract American Idol contestant sign when they make the final round of competition includes a provision that 19 Recording a part of 19 Entertainment which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of CORE Media Group. Under this agreement 19 Recordings (19R) had the option to sign Adam to a recording contract and then held the right to license Adam to a major label. Sony Music Entertainment had an exclusive agreement with 19R to sign any of the finalists to a recording and distribution contract. Adam's agreement with 19R expired this month -- 4 year term.

Adam's agreement (same as all AI Season 8 finalists) included agreements with several different entities of 19 Entertainment:

- 19 Management - Charged the artists for management and marketing. Expired Summer 2011, replaced by DMG 8/5/11

About the contract relationships

The terms of Adam's contract with RCA are not public, but it is probably similar to other Idol finalists' RCA contacts which is an industry standard "5 record deal" [or possible an initial album and 5 options]. A lot about how the 19 Recordings contacts is known because of lawsuits and SEC filings involving 19 Entertainment and CKX (now known as CORE Media Group). Based on the information available, I believe the relationships look something like this:

The expiring relationship is the contact between 19 Entertainment and Adam Lambert making 19 a party to the recording agreement between Adam and Sony/RCA.

No. He broke ties with 19M last summer. This is 19R. It is the record label part of 19.
I have no idea what this means as far as RCA goes. I guess at the least, it means DMG had to negotiate a new contract with them or some other label. We will know all soon!

My take is he is with RCA. And with DMG at the helm, maybe we can see some changes??? I hope.
